So mama is wondering, now that the terrorist Imwazi is exposed to be just a guy who was able to take off heads of other human beings and various other horrendous acts, if other young people around the world will see him as someone just like themselves and say, “Wow, look, I can be famous and go viral if I’m able to commit atrocious acts for a cause of some kind?” Don’t we have a responsibility to stop glorifying criminals?

And there must be many kids who might not even believe in ISIS or radical islamic tenets or even know what that MEANS but when they see a normal-looking guy in a baseball cap getting so much attention, perhaps they’ll want some of their own. Mama says that you never hear on the news about kids who do good things, kids who volunteer for positive causes, kids who wish to better the world or change something that appears not to work. All you see is horror and torture and riots and famine and politcal murders—in Moscow and Buenos Aires, for example, and leaders of those two countries denying they had anything to do with the killings. Hah.

What are young people to think if they have no role models especially of their own age to emulate.

Do kids know what the word emulate means?

Well, this kitty feels that young people need help from their elders, their parents, specifically, because who else is going to guide them toward a moral and responsible life? One cannont expect teachers to be parents, but parents must certainly be teachers.

Mama just wants to know what goes on in this kid’s head? Is it genetic? What influenced him to be a killer jihadist after living in the US for such a long time? Why are these kids following the most warped version of a great religion? Who were the three young women in the UK who left to become ‘brides’ of radical islamists? Will they be shocked to find that they are only tools of an evil trade?

Are there answers? I would love your comments on this, because this kitty is certainly in the dark about why this is happening.

Papa says that many movements simply burn out over time.  Jim Jones group and the Kool Aid incident. Cults like Scientology exposed for the dangerous manipulators they are, but if there is no fear of death for radical Islamists, and desire for martyrdom, then what can stop it?

On a happier note–here is a BBC commercial by David Atenborough to lift your spirits.
