Well, a fond hello on this first day of an adventuresome NEW YEAR, starting off with wishes for everyone to stay clear of Omicron and wear masks if asked to and look forward to the vaccine that is being developed specifically against Omicron, YAY.
We spent a very nice day having black-eyed peas and cornbread and hope they bring us good luck, good health and a prosperous New Year.
Plus they taste good, says papa, haha.
I lay next to mama and had tummy rubs (see above).
Heaven on New Year’s Eve.
Our morning started brilliantly with this sky. Again.
And then I lay on my new floppy fish filled with nip to sort settle out and get ready for today.
OKAY, I’m ready. Now what?
When Petcretary was still at home with her parents, they had ‘appel-flaps’ which are fried apple rings, coated in a beer batter and deep fried, Mmmm!
And then there were ‘ollie ballen’. which are a type of donut, filled with raisins and also deep fried.
Both are covered in powdered sugar…and then we would have Advocaat…which is a very thick alcoholic egg nog, topped with whipped cream and eaten with a tiny spoon…I wish I could find those in our stores but nope…not here!
Hubby’s family had Lentils….I think I like the Dutch tradition better, LOL!
Glad you had an enjoyable evening with your peeps!
How about the Swedish apelskeevers, which mama makes with a special iron pan with little scoopy holes in it. You put in the batter and then turn them with knitting needles. SO yummy but I want all of your dishes!
That sounds good, we had black-eyed peas and forgot to eat them, oh well, maybe they still work if you eat them in the first week? You sure look ready for anything in that selfie LouLou – have a wonderful 2022.
You can eat them all of January says mama. But she often makes up her own rules, haha.
My Mom and Dad always have black-eyed peas and cornbread for breakfast New Years Day too! My Mom grew up with that thanks to her Mom but my Dad had never heard of it until Mom told him about it and he thinks it’s a delicious tradition! You look quite happy to have a tummy rub to start the new year Loulou.
Hugs, Teddy
Oh, we LOVE black-eyed peas and corn bread. Mama puts real kernels in her bread for texture. Yes, tummy rubs to start the New Year off on a good habit track!
What a beautiful way to start the new year! Happy New Year!
It was, and now the second day is nice, too. Let’s hope all are full of good things.
You look gorgeous, LouLou!
And so does that sunrise!
Happy Mew Year!
It was pretty spectacular.
That’s a very big eye Selfie, sweetie pie and that sky is really weird, but beautiful😺
🎊Pawkisses for a Happy New Year to all of you and hope that all your wishes come true in 2022✨🐾😽💞
Oh Binks and Granny, happy year ahead to you, too.
teehee – I had a few black-eyed peas – with chorizo but no cornbread! And Mamma and Papa had scallops on pasta with Truffle oil and truffles. I had cucumbers – but I LOVE cucumbers! And they keep me slim – well almost!
You are one darling doggy, Mya. CUCUMBERS? WOW. And I would go for the scallops, haha.
Happy New Year from all of us Loulou!
And the same to all of you, Brian baby.
You are such a sweetie. I hope you, your mama and papa have a happy and healthy 2022! XO
And we hope that for you, Ellen. Your blog today was fun.
LouLou those are all such lovely pictures ! Hope you have a good New Year !
And for you, Mary, a long and healthy and fairly carefree New Year with successful vaccines.
Beautiful sky and photo of you 🙂
Happy New Year!
Oh, Athena, thank you, and have a wonderful year of adventures!
Happy New Year!
I think I’ll nap with the cats this afternoon; 2022 has already worn me out…
I know exactly what you mean, haha. Take a snooze.
