Merci. Grazie. Thank you.
Well, first mama wants thank all of you who are sending such sweet comments of concern about little Bolt. He is in a safe place for the summer and in the fall will probably get a nice big protected garden cage with a little corner house when he can get out of the rain. Did you know that turtles hate rain? Maybe that’s why mama’s mama told that story about the mama turtle calling her kiddoes out of the rain. So funny.
Of course I am not very partial to rain either, haha. You don’t see me out there singing and dancing with an umbrella, do you?
When it rained on Bolt in the garden, Bolt’s mama went out and planted an umbrella in the garden and he stayed under it the whole time. So cute.
So thank you for your concern and I shall keep you updated on Bolt’s news. In a comment I saw that turtles are not usually attacked by rats. It did seem awfully unusual, and I would like to know more about that. Must get out my Rat Facts book, haha….
Off to get snuggled and spoiled.
Turtle SCOOP???? I thought you said Turtle SOUP .. I had some green turtle soup in New Zealand, way way back when Grandma was about 16 or 17 years old .. at least, that’s what they told me it was, but on second thought, 60 years later or more, maybe they were just pulling Grandma’s leg?? What say you, LouLou – ever heard of green turtle soup? It was green ..
Well, there IS turtle soup but we won’t go there with Bolt now in the family. I don’t see the nums in turtle soup. Ech….But it’s probably what you had.
Loulou, we must rat out that BAD rat and pull out all his teeth. Bet he won’t hurt any more hapless turtles!! Well, Bravo for the good outcome for Bolt – but mama says maybe he needs a gal-pal for that cage. Or do we actually know if Bolt is a he or a she-turtle? How does one tell since I would imagine all their equipment isn’t on display? And then one day there might be little turtlettes? Uh oh – a MUCH bigger cage…….well that’s AMORE!!!!
Oh, Mya, you are soooooo funny, “that’s amore” is so perfect, especially there in Rome where I’m sure lots is going on….I think Bolt may stay the summer in his reserve and be very, very happy.
You’re lookin’ so bootyful LouLou. glad to hear Bolt is doin’ good. Big hugs
Luv ya’
Dezi and Raena
Oh, Dezi, thank you and so sorry we have not visited lately. BUT WILL!!! TODAY!!!
I looked quick and thought this said turtle soup 🙂 I am glad Little Bolt is safe.
Well, it was my jeux de mots, just playing with words and you did what I thought one might. But thank heaven it’s not THAT.
After reading your post today, we did a quick search for “do rats attack turltes? The answer is YES! And they eat off their front legs or whatever they can. We had no idea. But you can check it out for yourself. Breaking up one link so it won’t cause a problem posting this comment. Just put it back together. (duckduckgo is our search engine)

Oh, Jan, thank you but oh, how awful!!! And there seem to be more rats in Rome this season……
The mental picture of a turtle under an umbrella is pretty cute. I take it Bolt is a land turtle – (or tortoise?) – I wonder if water turtles mind it ? Some kinds of turtles have to have water to swallow their food. Nice to know he is being well-cared for til he heals up !
Well, he had his little water dish but he never splashed around in it. Now he is so happy at his reserve. The family made a visit a few days ago and he is doing well.
