Uh, oh, mama’s calling me to take some shots of our neighbor’s masterpiece.
BEFORE – Late spring (naturally I did NOT take this today, haha. I have a stash of photos for all occasions).
AFTER – NOW!
THE GURU
Well, I know you’ve seen this spectacular garden in other blogs, but each year is a marvel and it’s what I gaze at all day long, watching the rondoneles swooping down to get insects that hover over the plants, and it’s what provides such pleasure for us when our generous neighbour calls out to haul up a bucket of tomatoes or cucumbers or fresh eggs from those squawkers he raises. This morning, in the middle of pock, pock, POCK that went on for some times papa said, “Houston, I think we have egg.”
And mama ’bout fell off her chair because laughing with a mouthful of French baguette, butter and peaches is not easy.
Here is one of the many pails of produce that our neighbors share with us! Little new potatoes, tomatoes and seedless cukes.
This is Mme. Guru, Christine, one of the most amazing bunyette-makers in the world. They litter-allly (haha) float off the plate!
Bunyettes are essentially fried dough, but very, very light dough and they must be made by someone who knows what she’s doing! Christine!
And here is the perfect couple, come to visit, thanks to our lovely neighbors.
Uh, oh, our neighbour is calling out to mama to come get something else! I’m going out there to thank them (they LOVES kitties!).
Oh my – what a garden! I would love to zig and zag through the rows of plants to catch a bug or a bunny! I bet they grow some of the best nip in the world! You’re lucky to have a neighbor that is willing to share his harvest! France must be dreamy!
Wow! That is one fabulous garden. We hope he planted some catnip for you, Loulou.
Hey, mama planted the nip and it’s a BIG area. Maybe too much…sometimes I get carried away and sort of loll around too much after rolling in it.
Oh, Loulou, you really have a great life!!! All those veggies and king-size litter box – an birds laying eggs (mama cracked up over that one!!) – I’m just fantacizing about how much fun I could have with that huge tomato!!! And all the great things your mama makes with the gifts from the garden. Yummm. Does that magic gardner grow kibbles?
Well, he has a kitty so he OUGHT to grow some kitty food, but I think that only the chickens qualify, haha.
How lucky you all are. I’m sure you love a little tomato sauce don’t you LouLou. Most kitties like pizza and other pastas with tomato sauce and cheese. No?
Gosh, I’ve not gotten the pizza yet, but maybe because mama puts onions on one side for her slices. But I could try papa’s with ANCHOVIES!!!
oh my you live next door to paradise!!! Produce is so expensive here, what I wouldn’t give to have fresh produce given to me like you have! You are a lucky lady!!!
We really are lucky and also because we live in the vegetable and fruit basket of France. And definitely NOT expensive.
He is clearly an incredible gardener.
He really could not exist without his garden. It is part of his body.
Wow ! What a generous neighbors – AND kitty lovers ! I agree with Jan though, I bet Mama & Papa have some good things to share too.
Well, mama gave them chutney the other day and potato salad made with THEIR potatoes and we do share limoncello, whatever that is. I think it’s made with limons, haha.
Oh wow, this actually looks like a great litter tray to use! (before the plants became that big, obviously)
Oh, it’s great. It’s straw, chopped up nicely to make mulch and mama covers her garden with it very deep and we never have weeds and the straw called in French paille feeds the earth, too. For kitty ablutions it’s wonderful but I bury everything neatly.
Okay, so they are so generously sharing these veggies with your mama and papa, but what are they raising in their garden for you, Loulou? (We are sure your mama and papa do nice things for your neighbors, too.) Any mice?
