Hey, you remember that just a few weeks ago mama was lamenting her loss of tomato seedlings and saying that nothing was growing properly and then she’d tear her hair and wail, “NO TOMATOES THIS YEAR–wah, wah” and all those things she said about having an empty garden for the first time in her life? Remember that?
Well–what do you think THESE are? Tennis balls? (And while we’re on the subject, wasn’t it great to see Federer as king again?)
And these–
And yes, that giant thing next to the lavender is ONE tomato plant covered with flowers.
Hey, it’s a jungle out there. Mya will be in seventh heaven!!!
I’d better get some off the vines before she shows up, that’s for sure.
Num, num, tomato sauce, gazpacho, tomatoes with tuna sauce, caponata (whatever that is–mama is making gallons of it because her neighbour gave her six HUGE eggplant!), tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwiches (now you’re talkin’), and last but not least, sliced fresh tomatoes with basil and olive oil. One of the world’s great dishes.
Next to the one that holds my kibble, that is.
I’m tomatoed-out!!!
Yum-m-m-m!
The tomatoes look good but those eggplants look amazing!
Have a super Sunday…
Noodle and crew
Thank you.
Your momma has a green thumb afterall! I love shiny red things, but I don’t think I’ve ever eaten a tomato. Can kitties eat them? Purrs.
Kitties have tomato in some of their food. I know I do in my Purina wet food. Also green beans!
you know, it’s funny that you wrote about tomatoes today. I was at the market yesterday and the price of grape tomatoes and cherry tomatoes has SKYROCKETED! I am thinking the crops weren’t good this year. I needed tomatoes for my salads and while I know Romas aren’t the best for salad, I bought them anyway because they were the least expensive.
Oh, mama LOVES Roma tomatoes and they are great in salad because they are not watery and hold their shape when you toss the salad. You did well to find some.
You’re tomatoed out??!! Tomato me IN!!! Yippee!!!! Those are BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Can’t wait – and just yesterday mama and papa gave me a few during the day to keep me occupied and I was in seventh heaven (wherever that is!). Those plants would not be safe around me!! But Loulou – you could stay busy keeping the mice away. That will keep your svelte form in bonne forme!! I’ve had enough aerobics to last a lifetime walking up that dreaded hill with gazillions of steps to the Eze village galerie/musée every day for a week. Today’s the last day. Yippee and Whew.
I would sure love to be there doing my “hoover” thing when your mama is cooking up all that good stuff and drops crumbs here and there!!! You will surely take advantage of that opportunity, non? Bon Appétit!!
Oh, Mya, I hope they put your mama in the poucette, too! She sounds exhausted like you. But what an experience. Hey, it all counts. I’m just here biding my time until THEY come home but oh, boy, am I having FUN with my sitter. A pushover.
teehee – don’t let mama read the newsletter! Let her think you’re miserable so she’ll give you extra sushi on return. I won’t tell…….oh, and the poussette? Nope – Papa carries me up the steps. How’s that for playing “poor me” for all it’s worth (teehee encore).
Papa is a mensch! Did he carry both you AND mama? Wow! He deserves more tomatoes!
I am glad her garden is doing well.
FINALLY.
We can’t let Jan see this. She LOVES tomatoes but they’ve become so expensive. She’s had a few given to her this year and she is enjoying them. So all of you enjoy yours.
OMG–our tomatoes are so CHEAP and I’m sorry not to be able to send them to you! Plus Mya eats all the dropped ones, haha…
Gee Whiz – they look almost good enough to eat! and with your tomato and oil – just a small amount of sweet red onion – and good fresh baked bread crust to dunk and slobber to the old cake-hole
I am already drooling over that!! We miss you and Barrie. Well, he doesn’t know me but…
REAL tomatoes – nothing better !
Yes, and all over the place.
We think you need to have a serious thought about your attitude.
Clearly, you’re praising your humans here. Ok, you made fun of her by pointing out that she was so pessimistic, but that’s not enough. Humans are very egocentric and tend to be very satisfied with themselves. One of the main purposes they need cats is that we challenge them all the time, and make them go the extra mile.
YOu COULD e.g. point out that her neighbors have a way more impressive garden than hers!!
Oh, boy, as if mama doesn’t know that already! But our garden is Loulou size and for its tininess, it does produce a nice little batch of lemons, tomatoes, basil, rosemary, oregano, mint and above all NIP NIP NIP!!!!
