I’m a little off color, too…like those doggies that like summer fruit: a melon-collie, haha.
Oh, boy, mama is looking (well, from a photo she sent me) a little blue. Funny how that happens to her at the end of July, just on the edge of August when the summer is headed toward falling leaves and cooler nights and the smell of barbeque in the air is not as often as in July…(especially the barbeque thing, if you want my opinion!).
Summer seems too short, mama says, and has whistled by, whatever that mean, because how can a season whistle, I ask you?
Still, there is a really nice visit from the little anthros to come and I’ll have to be on my good behavior and tolerate their snuggles and petting and hope to heck they don’t find me in my “secret place under the geranium pot” (Mistress Masham’s Repose, a great kids’ book), which, of course is NOT my hiding place at all, it being a bit tight under there, but I do have a few picked out where I can have a little peace and quiet!
But I’m going to make an effort to have August be really good month, becaue I, too, am a little misty about having the summer go so fast…romping in the garen, little bits of grilled things to nibble, sun puddles, geckos darting over the walls to eat insects when the outside light is turned on, cool things like that. Oh, and lizards.
I think I’ll start with a good think about how to make the end of summer sizzle a bit longer…like right now, I see a small reptile who needs serious disciplinary action!
MAMA, OPEN THIS DOOR! Er…Sue, please open the door. Thank you.
Geckos? We don’t get those here, but Mom & Dad spotted a big lizard. I didn’t get to see it, but they took a photo of it. I would’ve apurr-ciated it if they had brought it inside to me, but they didn’t. I hope you have more luck!
Did they find it in their bathroom, like mama finds geckos and screams bloody murder? Well, not really, she loves geckos but they do surprise when scuttling.
The mom agrees with your mama, Loulou…summer is going by way too fast! She would like it to stay summer much longer.
Maybe we could sort of shift the months around and add September, and subtract December and all that HOLIDAY ANTHRO WEIRDNESS!
My Mom is THRILLED that summer is “whistling” away!
Maybe it’s really hot where you are and do your summers actually whistle? I’d love to hear them…
Like many a retired teacher (old habits die hard) the approaching end of Summer makes me a bit nostalgic, though more for my own grade-school days than my teaching days ! How long before Mama & Papa are home and the young anthros descend on you ?
Two days before they arrive and after that, two days to snuggle me before the onslaught, whatever that is..
That melon-collie must be contagious, since mama has been whining about summer flying by (how can a season fly!? oh, those humans and their language!) – and I got bits of melon last night – even mama who is the meanie who restricts my diet, sneaked me a couple of bits. I’ll call myself Melonius Mya. In honor of Thelonious Monk. Mama just called me corny…….but I prefer melon.
Oh, your mama and my mama could peel the socks off a heifer with their CORNY humor. LOVED Melonius Mya…you got rythym, no? And I thought I caught you one day gazing at the piano with longing…Diet? You are the skinniest doggy I know! More melon, maman.
OMC LouLou, dat last foto is too cute. We think summer’s gone by way too fast too. Y, It seems like it just got here. Big hugs
Luv ya’
Dezi and Raena
I feel the same way, but I’m so glad that your teeth are getting fixed in nice weather! Good luck with all.
