Well, there’s the old moon again, full and bright and beautiful here in Roma, shining over the monuments from so long ago and making mama lose sleep! Does that happen to you? Full moon, wide awake for hours. I think it’s because she is a moon child, July, and the moon seems to affect her when full and powerful!
Have you heard of the get-to-sleep-method of putting your tongue against your upper teeth and then breathing slowly in to a count of 4, holding for 7 and then out for 8. And supposedly, you’ll be asleep before you can finish the exercise! Well, in 60 seconds. I have to tell you that mama does this nightly, when that 3-in-the-morning-awake-thing happens. But it’s especially bad when the moon is all filled out.
Hey, do we kitties NEED this? Haha, that’s a laugh. Maybe mama should just grow whiskers and a tail and she would sleep for HOURS on end.
She might also try counting pussycats jumping over scratchy logs as they run to a plate full of rich cream. Tee hee hee. Purr purr purr.
HEY, now that’s a solution! Or, for anthros, maybe count how many nice fat cheeses can jump over a glass of good red wine, haha.
It always amazes me how easily cats can fall asleep – it makes me rather envious! I have never heard of that exercise, but I may try that sometime! Thank you for sharing with us about it.
You are so welcome. Mama does it several times a night, haha, but I think it was from computer stress.
Well, Loulou, I can go to sleep on a moment’s notice too! Don’t know what it is with those anthros – papa’s like me – hits the bed and ZONK. Mama has to put on a film or read. Then her eyes get tired after about an hour – and zonk. But that moon is so beautiful, I don’t know if it would be easy to sleep since we have a view of a giant cactus (as big as a tree!) from the bedroom. And last night there was a BUG – and I am the designated fly huntress and I kept running around at midnight chasing it. The BUG finally landed on the tv screen and mama killed it with a book. It was a nasty one so at least I saved them from a bite in the night!
Oh, don’t you just hate those slow-buzzing buggers? What book did she use, Lord of the Flies?
LOL – no, actually it was from the Sacré Monté de Lago d’Orta. he devil made her do it……..
Oh, yeah, the devil…every time!
Beautiful shot of the moon, and of you too. I am going to try that trick to fall asleep.
It actually works but you never know how because you’re asleep when it happens, haha.
love that tip but I am one that has no trouble falling asleep, probably because I go to bed around 2am and get up at 7 🙂
TWO TO SEVEN?????You need more sleep, Caren! And are you working up until two am? WOW.
The juxtaposition of the moon and that Roman building give a peaceful reflection on the fact that some things last.
Oh, this is a city of lasting monuments, but they, of course, are crumbling over time. Still, when you think that Rome was foundedin 753 BC or thereabouts, they are doing pretty well…
What? We don’t have any trouble getting to – zzzzzz
Oh, you guys are so cool. But snoozing together is easier, I think. Maybe I need a friend to lie upon, like Wally and Ernie…
