Well, here’s the thing. We’re very quiet around here today as mama and papa are quietly contemplating the loss of a dear friend and hoping for the approach of spring, that it’s really here and not just fooling us all. This is the anniversary, after all, of the day in March that 80 cm of snow fell on Collioure, covering the automobiles and even the beach with a glorious whiteness, but it was NOT good for the gardens.
SO we are crossing our fingers that those Easter “flags”(iris) popping up all over the fields and vineyards are really here to stay. Mama actually planted a few bulbs this year, whatever they are, but picking radishes in our garden this morn, she noticed a HOLE where one of the bulbs was actually out of the soil yesterday! Now who or what on earth wants to munch on a tulip bulb?
Uh, oh, better not to question why–better just to snooze up high!
Hey, I climbed up here to doze–I don’t want to meet what ate that bulb!
Loulou, condolences to your Mama and Papa on their loss. It was 2 months before that horrible snow that Mama had a terrible loss – so she remembers that snow so well – and the lunch she had chez your mom and pop’s DURING the snow fall! So snuggle and give lots of love to your Mom & Pop. That’s what we’re here for – to give LOVE.
Yes, thank you, it is so sad, but oh, what words live on. Mama adored him and his amazing writings.
I am sorry your folks lost a friend. XO
Thank you for that, but he died in his sleep and for that we are thankful.
We bet some critter decided to make lunch out of that bulb.
Oh, it was a critter all right, whatever that is. I’ll keep my eyes open.
SNOW. OH, NO! And we, with a tree full of lemons. I hope this spring thing has begun.
Sorry about you Mama & Papa’s friend. We also had a bit of snow this morning, but not bad. A few green leaves are starting to poke up just a bit, and up on the tops of the trees where the sun hits there are buds showing a bit.
Groundhogs might dig up bulbs, but do you have them in France ?
