You want me to help pick lemons? Can’t you see I’m BATHING?
Well, yesterday mama and her helper (not me, haha) picked about a gazillion lemons from our tree, because the little flowers are appearing and they need all the nourishment for the next lemon growth, so we take away the big daddies.
You have to carefully take off the zest with a carrot peeler, NO white part left on the long slivers of peel.
Mama has already starter her limoncello, a powerful, healing, lemon after-dinner digestive (at least that’s the excuse THEY give it, haha) and in two weeks, she’ll add the sugar syrup to cut the 99-proof alcohol that is used to make it.
Oh, boy, I do NOT get any of that, that’s for sure. I’m already a bit wobbly on the paws some days, and that would put me over the top!
Makes great Christmas presents, however, and mama likes to start early.
Is she out of her mind or what?
And THEY think I’M eccentric! Whatever that is…
I mean, doesn’t EVERYONE sleep this way?
My auntie really liked the limoncello that Mom brought back for her on a trip to Europe. But I bet it can’t compare to your momma’s limoncello. Has your momma every thought about selling her limoncello and having an exclusive label for it?
Hey, that’s great idea but my mama started a business like that once and I’m not sure she’s up for that now that she is decrep….older.
ohhh I remember that your Mama always has lovely lemons! I am sooo jealous! How I would LOVE to be able to pick lemons! I can smell the lemon deliciousness from here!
Wish they could travel….
I did a lot of limoncello in my days but nowadays, we can’t get strong alcohol. 40/45° is a bit sweet.
The sight of all these lemons make me salivate. Will send pics of my two lemon trees.
Ohh,love to see them. Merci!
Loulou, will send tomorrow.
Be prepared for something spectacular !
The 40% alchohol does work. You simply have to strain off the lemon-infused alchoholl after 3 weeks and add the same volume of sugar syrup, made with 2 water to 1 sugar. It is slightly less strong, which is not a bad thing. Mama’s is so powerful she has to really cut it carefully.
Wow – those lemons just look like the ones from Menton (that are soooo famous) – your lemons are just as impressive!! Mama still has lemon juice in the little ice-cube bags and Limoncello stashed away. This is a reminder to put a bottle in the freezer!!!! But they don’t give us any. Harrumph.
Your mamn can take back lots of ctrons to Nice!p
We think it’s really cool you have your own lemon tree.
Well, THEY love it but I prefer a tuna tree. Do not know why they did not plant one.
The Frito-Lay snack people are announcing a new potto chip flavor called Limon.
What is a potto chip?
I believe the British call them crisps. My pathetic typing skills left me again : POTATO chip. Sorry.
But there IS such a thing as a Potto https://www.britannica.com/animal/potto
(if potto chips are like buffalo chips or cow chips, they are mostly useful for starting campfires.)
Yes, certainly not fried crisp in oil, haha! We know those chips…mama’s a Texan.
Lovely lemons! Forget “If life gives you lemons make lemonade.” Limoncello sounds like a much better use 🙂
Yes, LOVE that…but we made limoncello instead because it’s so good for your tummy, HAHA! Actually, mama says it DOES help digestion. Thanks for visiting.
