Well, mama was out on the Corso, Rome’s shopping street, and  she stopped to meet these darlings.

Their papa says that they have been friends for a  long time, Viola on the left and Jagger, the kitty, named after Mick, on the right.

They live on the street, homeless and wet in the rain and cold now that it is winter.  There are so many anthros on the street, mama  says, living in doorways or under arches.  A longtime friend in our  neighborhood, Emilia, has been on the street for years and everyone in this area knows her and stops to chat with her often, and yet the reality is that she is manic/depressive, used to the street and can’t really imagine living anywhere else.

Still, it’s very sad.  And  there seem to be so many more homeless than the last time we were here.

Mama says you can’t believe how many homeless there are here and also in the US, perhaps with doggies or kitties as companions, but during holidays, it is hard to imagine how isolated they must feel with no family, few friends, and no means of support.  It’s hard to imagine at any time…

Be glad for your roof and your family and hug your doggies and kitties often.  Mama was so happy that Viola and Jagger at least have a papa that keeps them warm while he tries to make a few euros.  Some animals are not so lucky…

I didn’t want to write a sad blog, but…

I am glad that these sweeties are cared for and healthy.

Maybe skip the presents and help a shelter.  It sure makes sense to me…I might have been in one were it not for fate.
