Loulou, we’re not going to wash you, don’t worry.
Well, years ago, mama was thrilled when a hunter friend left a couple of wild ducks on the doorstep.
“Oh, I’ll clean them, don’t worry,” she said to the gift-giver, and boiled a duck-sized pot of water.
In went the ducks, and OUT POPPED THE DUCKS, over and over.
So this is exactly what happened yesterday when mama came home from her first visit to the (empty!) little market in our village. Everything, including pillow-packed lettuces, went into the bath of soapy water and guess what popped out just like a duck?
But, hey, you have to wash everything, even vacuum-packed bags of lettuce! I had a ball watching her struggle with the lettuces…so FUNNY.
And remember that cartons and cardboard have to wait somewhere for 2 days before safe.
Wash everything else in soapy water as you sing Happy Birthday…
So many unusual things coming out of this change in the world. Like having to walk your turtle (photo thanks to my aunty Barbara in Sonoma.
But I think this is the route I should take. Talk about a cool puppy! Thank you, Mya’s mama.
Mama, why do you think ducks don’t sink?
DUH!
Who knew that one day we’d have to wash our groceries???
Isn’t that bizarre? Just wait until they tell us to launder our CATS!!!
Your mama is right to wash everything, Loulou. Who knows where those packages have been sitting. Love that picture of the tortoise being taken for a walk – so cute!
In my sis in law’s neighborhood! Sonoma, Calif.
Well, life has changed, huh, Loulou?! Thank goodness I get out to walk – since we don’t have a garden or terrasse! Mama washes the oranges – since she slices them and they go into her spritz!! She’ll be washng ME next – thank goodness Animal Paradise is closed or I would get a new coiffure. Loulou, be glad you’re not a DAWG!!!!!!
Hey, Mya, showers are FUN…with maman!!!
Scrub a dub dub takes on a whole new meaning now Loulou!
You bet your booties, whatever that is.
On the farm where I was a kid there were ducks. Everyone gathered around to help when it was time to load the freezers and my mother said there was nothing harder to pluck than a duck – all those pin feathers. So I hope Mama got them de-feathered !
Took her two hours but they were teals and tasty. Now she probably wouldn’t eat them….they would scare me!
