Well, I never seem to get a good selfie so I just stuck this in, and Summer Samba, the kitty, is back blogging and had very good advice today about wearing masks. So that’s why “summer” and “selfie”, get it? Okay, okay, let’s move on…
But here’s the thing.
Mama is boring herself to tears (and probably many others, haha) by daily observation of too many anthros without masks or gloves, even in our FISH MARKET and then making some comment to papa about whomever it is who is maskless and why don’t they understand that it’s to protect OTHERS, not just themselves, etc. etc. etc. but there I go again yakking about it and frankly, I’m boring myself, too!
SO…let’s get into what’s really important around here. TOMATOES ARE ON THE MARCH…er…VINES!
And speaking of words that rhyme, you should have seen our neighbor’s harvest of potatoes yesterday. Mama forgot to take a photo but Jean and his wife, Christine, dug up a gazillion potatoes from a long trench where they had grown and it was pretty impressive.
Potatoes here are about the most important food, next to crème fraîche, haha. Hey, steak frites is a staple on most menus. Of course, steak and potatoes are pretty much everywhere, right?
So mama, why don’t we have THAT more often? Ditch the potatoes for me. Just show me the beef!
PS–Mama’s quick summer potato recipe: Slice and boil potatoes in salted water. Drain and in a mixing bowl, mash coarse with fresh basil, olive oil, lemon juice, fresh black pepper and eat tepid. Don’t mash too much, a heavy wire whisk does a neat job. You can also add chopped green onions, a spoon of mayo and make these into a warm salad.
I have a tough time getting a good selfie of my black and white kitty, Poussey. You can see her here: https://wowmypetdidthat.com/five-fascinating-facts-about-black-and-white-cats/
She just wanted to be petted and rub against me, so I think I took about twenty pictures of her and this was the least blurry.
All of those kitties were WONDERFUL. Love the mushy one.
Your mama eats well, Loulou…almost as good as you…right?
Yes, but papa is always after my kibble….
Yum, I love potatoes (a little too much actually), so will definitely give that a try, Loulou. A big thank you to your mama for sharing.
We love them, too!
Oooh – paté time for me in 2 days…. mama is practically going “meatless” except for fish and shellfish. And who knew – but under my huge mound of hair – that got cut – I became svelte and (almost) slim! I miss you, Loulou – Mama’s thinking about putting us in another painting together. OMG.
Oh, that would be nice and I MISS YOU THREE SO MUCH!!!!!!
My hubby and I always wear masks and gloves when we go out. Cute selfie. XO
GOOD FOR YOU!!! Evidently many Americans do not think it’s necessary. Biden said, “Think of OTHERS and wear your mask and protect OTHERS.”
We had to look up creme fraiche. Butttermilk and cream – is that sort of like sour cream over here ? Our huMom likes buttermilk sort of, but is a tad leery since one day at her aunt’s she poured something from a carton in the fridge into her coffee and found out it was a carton of buttermilk. Talk about “clotted cream” !
We are using bandana for masks. It is easier to breathe and the glasses don’t steam up as much. The problem is signalling that you are not there to rob the place.
HA HA, you are wonderful!! But if you change your mind, pick up a little paté for me. Fits nicely under a coat….and yes, bandanas seem to be the thing now. We have those plastic thingies that make you look like a space cadet.
That’s a terrific selfie and you really don’t need a mask Loulou!
Well I simply do not go out gallivanting, thank you. No one in our family goes out to bars or restaurants or shops…just walking and everything gets delivered easily, and cheaply. Small town….
