A young baker just having made mama’s focaccia.
Well, actually, we in our little ville do not have great figs this year, but my aunty Barbara and uncle Dan in Sonoma, California, have beautiful fruit of all kinds, and figs are the stars.
Not sure my aunty ate the figs with pepperoncini, haha,
Figs on focaccia (!), figs and ham, figs on toast, figs in sauces, fig preserves, so many figging things to do! Hmm…maybe a nice fig whip with cream. I’ll push for that one…
Mama’s grandmama had lovely fig trees in her small garden and mama remembers the fig preserves in syrup that she stored in the cellar for a sweet treat in winter.
Mama would take the stem of the fig right out of the jar and eat it like candy!
Aren’t grandmama’s wonderful?
Except for the sweaters, that is.
PUT THAT SWEATER AWAY RIGHT NOW! I’m sending it to my Peterbald friend in Russia…
Excellent baking and Dad loves Figs
Yes, that little sweetie did a very good job with her first focaccia!
We’ve never had figs! Well, the mom has had a Fig Newton in her day but we don’t think that would compare to your figs.
Well done to that talented baker for whipping up a beautiful focaccia. Our next door neighbors have a fig tree and we love when we are gifted with a bag of them as snacks. Mom has never made anything with them though. She should try right?
Hugs, Teddy
Make focaccia and spresd fresh fig on the buttered bit…
See mama’s youtube video on how to make focaccia…easy peasy…2 minutes to stir up dough. Cover and wait. 3 minutes to form and heat oven. 10 minute bake. Fini..l.
Figs are so delicious, and I hear a great replacement if one doesn’t want to eat too much chocolate. 😉
Wait…too much chocolate? Um…what is that, haha, but yes, figs are so good for you and should be sweet before picking.
Ooooh – we saw figs on the trees in the greenspace in Nice – and Mamma and Pappa’s mouths were watering!! But they were too high to grab. But the market on Cours Saleya is full of figs – might buy some tomorrow – that focaccia made me hungry, LOL!!!!
Mama makes figs and uses the flowers of the wild anise that’s blooming all over now to flavor a tart. Or figs and prosciutto whatever that is….
Can you believe I have never had a fig?
OH how I wish we could send you ours!!!!!! They are wonderful fruits. How about dried?
LouLou, Ellen Pilch’s blog today has a LOVELY picture of her kitty Rosie wearing a sweater !https://15andmeowing.com/2020/09/wordless-wednesday-141/
Aunt Marion in Arizona had a lovey fig tree. The tree had lots of figs, so when I got ready to go home to Ohio she insisted I take some with me. I put them in my carry on backpack with my camera and film (this was several years ago when cameras still had film – and before 9/11) At the baggage line, an inspector asked about my backpack and I told him it was camera and film. He put his hand in – I had forgotten about the figs. He palpated the figs, watching me very suspiciously while I explained.
Oh, Mary, that is hilarious and what on earth did he think you had in there? What a great story and Ellen’s kitty is darling.
That’s such a cute little baker, great job!
She is the grandchild of a friend and loves to cook..hope for all of us that the young follow her lead!
