Mama, I can’t seem to get any colored pigments out of our gravel!
Well, mama has never been to Rousillon, but it is supposed to be a magnificent town of wall colors from ochres in the surrounding hills, which produce really amazing mineral pigments to mix with various media for watercolors, oil or acrylic painting.
I can’t imagine why mama has not been there but she and papa may have skirted the little village on the way to somewhere else.
Still, it has an amazing history so we thought you might like a little armchair travel today. And so many artists flocked to the little village for the natural pigments. Hey, wait a minute. Why PIG-ments? Haha, have to look up that one. Okay, okay, from pingere, to paint, not from oinkers.
Mama is eyeing the powders a friend recently gave her, but she still hasn’t quite figured out what to do with them.
They look like magic sand to me…mama says that Mary Jane and Sniffles had magic dust. WHO THE HECK ARE THEY?
Of course, mama has only heard about them…
Haha, you don’t fool ME, mama.
😸😸😸
Tell Mama to relax as she has a very nice four footed canvas and material right with her and you provide muse, subject and material all in one. Life is good Loulou
Hey, that’s a great idea. She was thinking about streaking her hair with pigments….
What a beautiful place! Thanks for telling us about it and the “tour.”
T’en prie! Mama has yet to use those pigments but she WILL (if I have anything to say about it)
That town sounds magnificent, and that quote is splendid!
We loved it too! We have such treasures, often overlooked…
Beautiful quote, Loulou and so true. That town is amazing – I definitely think your mama and papa need to pay it a visit, and buy some pretty pigments.
Well, I will show you the ones a friend dropped off the other day.
That’s a wonderful quote! And Loulou – we have a LOT of Love!!! That’s worth more than anything. I can’t wait to seewhat your Mamma does with those paints!!!! She will do something beautiful!!!
Maybe streak her tresses, whatever those are…
I like arm chair travel better than actual travel. 🙂
Oh, boy, ME, TOO, ME TOO.
That big wall sure is filled with real earthtones Loulou! Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Down to earth are they.
We remember Mary Jane and Sniffles – Mary Jane recited a spell and she became “as small as Sniffles” and they went off on adventures. I can’t remember what animal Sniffles was, but not a cat I’m sure.
We always enjoy going on travels that others share with us !
Me, too. He was a mouse. “Magic words of poof poof piffles, make me just as small as sniffles!” And off they would go….
That town is a delight on the eyes, for sure.
However, Loulou, nothing is as beautiful as a cat!
Unless you are a painting by John Singer Sargent, imho…
Hehehe!
Ha, you are RIGHT ON about that. Good that some kitties know something when those other creatures DON’T.
Love the art quote……….My Mom says it is TOTALLY true!
Love, Teddy
Well, I thought she would like it. She has such good ones of her own that she shares on your blog!
