WOW! That place is BIG!
Well, mama has been taking photos in Rome and I thought that it would be nice to share a few on my blog (thus giving me a rest from complaining about not having them here, haha, just kidding…) so that you could have an armchair visit with Romans and see the market place, campo de’ fiori, and enjoy a few shots, pre-Halloween, that might give you a little armchair travel experience and incentive to put on your witch hats…
For example, this wonderful guy pulling his pumpkins who knows where with a cloaked friend behind. Mama was having a sandwich in the marketplace when she saw him and leapt up to take a pic, so she wasn’t able to see the destination of those amazing pumpkins. And they are everywhere now, getting ready to be lanterns or, better yet, PIES, haha. At least I’d get some of the whipped cream, I’m pretty sure, but now I have to wait until Turkey Day!
And here’s the Campo in all its crowded glory, or at least a tiny piece of this huge market. It’s a cook’s dream, and mama, of course, is going bananas, no pun intended.
And these pics are not even covering the scarves, hats, cheeses, nuts, spices and all the other produce stalls that really knock your socks off. At least mama’s socks, not mine, mine are permanently affixed, haha. But I hope mama finds hers because it’s getting colder there and I think she’s going to need more than socks to be toasty.
Well, that’s it, folks. I’m waiting for another installment of Tickling Tours…
Loulou, The Hubby would enjoy that market, since he’s the chef ’round here and any vegetables makes him happy!
Now, myself, I prefere scarves and trinkets…
Oh, mama says the scarves alone would drive you crazy, and then you’d go crazier with the trinkets.
The mom loves the market. She wishes she could shop there. ~Ernie
Oh, mama would love company!
My Mama says your Mama’s photos brought back wonderful memories of Rome for her….the markets were fabulous and made Mom wish there were places like that in our town! Looks CHILLY there and I guess it won’t be long before it will be CHILLY here with coats and scarves and warm socks!!
Hugs, Teddy
Oh my word how wonderful to see Rome again through your mama’s eyes, Loulou. One of my most favourite places in Italy, along with Florence.
So glad you love Rome. Mama thinks it is the most beautiful in the world, but she has not seen all of course.
ooooh – it looks colder there than here!! We will go to the market (Cours Saleya) and get a plant for Hugette – who has invited us to a restaurant. I’ll bet you would love riding in a stroller (closed and attached). We could go together? Howzzat?
The day I get in a stroller, I’ll be on Xanax! But I love fantasizing about us!!!
HAHAHA!!!!! Well I adapted VERY FAST!!! And the Rico’s dog that disappeared rode with me. I don’t like their new doggie – I’m not sure what happened to Mignonne. Mamma says ehe was “put to sleep” – whatever that means!
Well. I hope she is dreaming…
Nice photos. I would love to shop a fresh market like that. XO
Oh, mama says it’s almost overwhelming…the wild mushrooms, foods from all over the wonderful growing area of Lazio in which Rome is situated. I wish you had one, too. Are there no open markets where you live? They seem to have sprung up in the USA in many places.
Thanks for the tour LouLou ! And we enjoyed the comments about your and Mama’s socks too !
HAHA, thinks are always knocking mama’s socks off. She seems to spend a lot of her life sockless…
