Hey, you mean I can’t talk on Wednesdays?
Well, okay, no words from us today except that The New Yorker cracks us up so often, especially the brilliant cartoonist, Roz Chast.
We just love this one, NO offense to anyone intended, just funny!
And now that we don’t eat so much meat any longer…are we Beef Jerkys, haha?
The sad thing about people who feel as Roz Chast apparently does is that they’re probably so grumpy because they’re living with the same reactions (primarily glyphosate!) and don’t want to deal with the difficulty of eating-in-the-hope-of-minimizing-the-pain.
I have a (sort of) friend like that. She knows I’m a celiac, she knows her daughter (screen name FeedMeAndTakeMePlaces) is gluten-sensitive…but she doesn’t beLIEVE any of that CRAZY stuff…she’s English, not Irish, and she has hemorrhoids, not pseudo-celiac sprue, and after spraying her flowers she has to go home and co-workers who aren’t paid extra have to do her job all day. And she doesn’t expect or want to live to age 70, and she’s already past age 60.
So, for those of us who want to be fit and healthy for however long we do live, social eating is over. Does not, in real life, mean we can’t be friends. At least with one another.
Oh, there are lots of things we don’t wish to eat, meat being among them now. It was only a funny joke and if you can send up things in cartoons, well….I hope it did not offen you as it was not meant to offend anyone! Have a lovely Save The Earth Day. Wait a minute. What is social eating??? I am in the dark. We haven’t eaten with ANYONE for two years because of isolation and Covid…sigh.
Oh my word, Loulou, that is so funny!
WE LOVE FUNNY!
Mamma is giggling!!! I don’t know why? Do you Loulou? Hugs to you and your Mom!!!!
Ha ha, and sometimes we’re picky too. But it’s mostly about if there’s enough butter on the radishes….
That is too funny…we feel that way, too, sometimes…we don’t eat many grains, legumes and some kinds of meat, since we are keto/paleo or a variant thereof…and son number one is a vegan, now. Sheesh!
Son Number two s truly an omnivore!! LOL!
Everyone has preferences and healh-based demands. But we just love Ras Chast for nailing too many who are simply picky out of now knowing what’s what. When mama had her hand made bread business in LA, and tried to give aways samples at markets, people would say, “NO, NO, I don’t eat bread, it gives you yeast infections!” Jeez….and there were worse responses, all with no facts to back them up.
That is funny. 🙂 XO
Well, we have to have humour sometimes about kale….(which mama loves)….
We always did like their cartoons!
So wonderful, Ms Chast. The best. And Lee Lorenz, who was mama’s art editor when she drew for TNY.
We LOVE Roz Chast. (“Bummer Theater. Every week something not so good happens.”) We only read the New Yorker for the cartoons…like everyone always said they only read Playboy for the articles.
Oh, yeah, we really believe THAT one…The NY is sometimes too long but the writers are often spectacular and thinkers!!! It’s not the Enquirer, that’s for sure, haha. Although that’s fun sometimes, too….
HAHA, okay, I’ll process that…
Dad says he generally doesn’t much care for that magazine, but we thought this was worthy of a chuckle or two.
Well I’m glad that he got a chuckle and mama used to draw for them for 10 years in the front of the magazine but it does take a long time to read.
That is totally hilarious….thanks for the early morning giggle – we needed it!!
Hugs, Teddy and his Mom
SO happy to bring a giggle to you.
