This is all I want to do in January!
*****
FIRST OF ALL. Reverence and thanks to Martin Luther King, a hero of our time. He is still direly needed in tbis unequal world.

Hey, what about this idea? Aside from the galette de roi (king’s cake) that is made on Epiphany and is dee-licious, why don’t we just ban January, and be done with the first month of the year, which is often too cold, a shock after holidays, has too much on one’s (abandoned during holidays!) plate to contend with, and is, in general, just too difficult a month to get one’s pea brain around?
Non?
Okay, okay, I’ll give in and go with January and just move my to-do-what-I-did-not-get-around-to list to February and try to pack some energy in these last two weeks of this month…maybe…
Here is mama’s spark today from Winston Churchhill:
The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.
I do believe that but it’s for anthros for sure.
I’m falling right now and have NO desire to rise!
Y’know, Loulou. I think you have a pretty good plan for January. Just snooze through it until it’s over. ~Ernie
Ah, the words of wisdom again…You and I will snooze into Valentine’s Day, non?
That’s a great quote, Loulou. I do think we place too much pressure on ourselves in January to be productive. It should rather be the ‘easing into the year’ month.
I would vote for elimination of January and would probably vote for tossing in February too EXCEPT it’s the MONTH OF LOVE with Valentine’s Day in it. That’s a SPECIAL day. I see your Mama and Papa vote to keep it too since it’s their wedding anniversary. February really IS the Month of Love at your house!!
Hugs, Teddy
Yes, and we have pink food sometimes…well, I DON’T! But THEY do…pink ravioli, pink pasta, pink rice….
We could live without a lot of things on that calendar we have on our wall…
Mr Churchill sure was a wise man, wasn’t he.
Yes, mama has tried to read his memoirs but there are 4 or more books!!!
I think you have a very good plan Loulou!
Okay, let’s skip into February!
We like your ideas LouLou !
Valentine’s is my favorite anyway.
My hubby’s birthday is in January so he would not like that ban. π XO
Well, mama’s brother’s was, too, plus a very lovely older lady we adore, mama’s bro on the 16th an Lilly on the 22nd so we have to stick around this month, haha.
Loulou, here’s why January and February should be removed from the calendar:
-Initially, the Roman calendar only consisted of 10 months. According to this calendar, the total days in a year were 304 days.
-Since the calendar was short by 61 and a quarter days, the calendar had a gap during the winters and winters were considered a month-less period.
-The name of the months of the Roman calendar was Martius (March), Aprilis (April), Maius (May), Junius (June), Quintilis (July), Sextilis (August), September, October, November, and December
-Eventually, the person who added the month of January to the calendar, Numa Pompilius, increased the calendar to 355 days.
-He also added the month of February at the end of the calendar and created the 12-month calendar year as we know it.
-Finally, in 452 BC, the month of February was moved between the months of January and March.
You see? Jan & Feb are add-ons…let’s get them removed again!!! π
WOW, that is impressive and wonderful history of our year. Those Romans knew how to do it, right? We LOVE these things you come up with you smart kitties. Although I’ll bet your mamam has a tiny bit to do with the research, non? MERCI. But we cannot do without February, NO WAY, JOSE. Mama and papa’s wedding anniversary.
