Taking a tour of my Rome digs to make sure all is going well.
Well, when I was often visiting the Rome family with mama and papa, I used to look out our windows on a bright Sunday morn, and there was always a story lurking there….
I’m along on their visit this time to check on those teen-ager-grand-anthros and make sure they are studying and being polite to others and trying not to say ‘like’ after every word, haha, and this bright, beautiful Sunday, I see a bicycle thrown away at the bottom of the famous marble foot, the Pie di Marmo, which is all that is left of a huge statue of the 1st century dedicated to Isis and Serapis.
Now who rode that rental bike? In the middle of the nght? And who is going to take it away? Does it still “bike”? Mystery, mystery. And so much to tell you about as I visit…
What do YOU think went on here?
And read here about why we really have a Mother’s Day.
And here are mama’s mama and mama as a young child.
Mama’s granny was a ‘belle’…it is rumored that she went to a picnic with one young man and ended up being taken home by another young man, my grandfather!
First of all Loulou, your Mama was a beautiful little girl and became a beautiful lady – that post is precious. Her Mom was a VERY elegant lady but we see a “gleam in her eye” so something tells us she might have been an adventurous femme fatale! The dress she has on is beyond gorgeous. Nice that you are visiting the family in Italy while they check in with the “grands”….I’m sure you’re enjoying the ability to go wherever your heart desires to check on things!!
Love, Teddy and Mom Pam
Well, Mr Teddy, I am really enjoying refreshing my knowledge of Italian statues and art and of course, a little dip now and then into a mozzarella factory, heh heh. There are several south of Rome towards Naples and oh, boy, is it fun to see them make those delicious, creamy balls and braided mozz-es.
Oh, my! It sounds like the second young man was very blessed to get to take her home.
As for the bike, you never know what happened in some of these cases.
Oh, he was and that’s the way mama got to BE and then I got to be with mama and papa. The bike disappeared overnight.
Your Mama’s granny was very beautiful indeed. Thanks for visiting us we really love reading your comments. We are going to try to do better about commenting. We read your post frequently but don’t always comment as sometimes Mom reads them to us on her phone.
NEVER worry about commenting, JAMAIS! I just send out my kitty thoughts about the crazy world and expect no comments or anything else. And we love ATCAD!
Beautiful photos. Happy Mother’s Day to your wonderful mama! XO
Merci, Ms E, and you are a mama to so many lucky kitties and a GREAT AUNTIE! There should be an AUNTIE’S DAY.
Happy Mother’s Day to your very special Mom from all of us!
Merci, Mr T, and the same for your mama and mamas everywhere.
Adorable family pictures, Loulou! Those were certainly enlightened motivations for the origin of Mothers’ Day. Sad that progress has been so slow in those areas. Still, things are a bit better than they used to be, and we have hope for the future.
Oui, it is still slow-going, you are correct on that one! Mama thinks we women are feared in some way by those who ‘rule’….just don’t know what to make of women!
The info on how Mother’s Day stated was very interesting. We like that it is now a time to honor mothers. We loved the gorgeous vintage photos. Thanks for sharing those and hopping with us. Oh, how mama wishes we had more photos! And you are so welcome!
Mamma’s Granny was a sensible lady – right? She found her man and jumped ship BRILLIANT!
Mamma is a pretty little thing eh?
Merci, mama thinks her maman was quite the cutie and she was so, so lively in her adult life. Lucky mama.
Wow – what great “old” pictures And of course just because some of us have children with four feet instead of two we are no less Moms !
Well, c’est vrai! Mama is a kitty maman, too. A maman is a maman, no matter what.
We love these old photos, LouLou!
They are fun, non? Mama wishes she had more. But she does have one of her grandpapa. Maybe she will post it one day…maybe for Grandpap’s Day, haha.
Aren’t the stories of our ancestors a true delight … always wanting to know more, now they are gone and we cannot ask. Lovely photos.
(PS those “dead” bikes and scooters litter our sidewalks here, there, everywhere! nuisances!)
Oui, they are everywhere here in Rome, too. Just left on sidewalks and in the streets….No couth, some anthros, haha.
