Turned on my magic tummy searchlight to check out this Sunday’s happenings…and
…oops, we are getting a bit damp here, but not much. Just enough to clean off the streets a bit, which, I see from my vantage point, need it, especially now after Saturday night’s rowdyness.
A sweet thing, however, that happens often under our windows on weekends is a band of young anthro students who suddenly burst into song together, and last night’s group actually harmonized beautifully as they walked through the streets.
Just another little perk for mama and papa. We stay near a school from which the students emerge at lunch time and afternoon, and their interactions are great fun to watch. Good energy.
When June graduation begins, they will spray one another with white washable paint and they all run around in the piazza looking like statues that have come alive. They almost sprayed mama once but did not press the button on the can when she yelled, “NO NO GRAZIE, I’m too old!”
A sweet city where I can also brush up on my history… and find out why the Colosseum has no roof, haha.
A few happy scenes on a Sunday:
A shop dedicated to Pinocchio (whoever that is…).
The lovely turtle fountain in what is called the Ghetto.
And mama, a few years ago, throwing her coin into the Trevi fountain to make sure she returned to her beloved Roma. Mama says that now you can’t even get to the fountain to throw a coin–too crowded.
What wonderful photos – a Pinocchio shop? Cool! Your Mama looks like she’s enjoying the sun AND the fountain at Trevi. My Mom and Dad both threw in a coin on their honeymoon a million years ago when they were there.
Love, Teddy
They will go back perhaps and why not? Wish you two were here throwing coins….
We would LOVE to be there tossing coins with you two….we fell in love with the city – made a lot of “forever” memories.
We’ll toss a couple for you….with pleasure.
What a wonderful pic of your lovely mama, Loulou and I love your tummy pic.
Merci, Ms Militza. My tummy seems to be the attractor of light lately…strange are the ways of the netherworlds.
😎 Cool pictures of both you and your Mama, Loulou! The students sound like lots of fun! Except for the spray paint, eek!
Haha, they are about to do it again in June, and we’re staying INSIDE
I threw a coin in many, many years ago, but have not been able to get back since. Maybe someday…
Meanwhile, it sounds as if the students are full of fun and mischief.
Mostly they are so incredibly healthy-looking and so lively, pure pleasure.
Oh my CAT covered in white paint is not the way to go (um…no thanks!!) but their high spirits make me laugh!
I have never been to Rome, but it sounds busy!!
PS Tell Mum to enter the Selfie hop again the link has an extra ‘i’ in it. I know the Kitties Blue won’t mind.
OH, darn, mama, I wish you would EDIT my blog sometimes! Merci for the help.
I love your searchlight! Our local university’s graduation was today and the traffic and crowds have been bad all weekend!
YAY for all the graduates who will, we hope, go on to improve our world!
Great shot of your mama. I like that Pinocchio. Sounds like the students like to have fun. XO
Oh, they have fun all right. It’s catching…
We read somewhere that the Colosseum did have a roof, a sort of canvas covering for shade or shelter from the rain – not a retractable dome type of thing, but probably enough to shelter the Emperor and his party.
Is the turtle fountain part of the idea that “It’s turtles all the way down” ?
That would be a lot of canvas!!! And no, it’s not part of that phrase and we had to look that one up, even papa had not heard it, but since mama is always wondering about how the universe came to be, it’s a good one for her!
Nice tummy! Hey, Pinocchio is a funny one! Howdy Mama!!!
Howdy Mr T! Mama says that Pinocchio statue would be useful as a coat rack!
We read in an article this morning that the very first ghetto was in Venice! There’s always something to learn!
Purrs,
The Chansd
Merci, grazie for that. Mama is so interested in that info and is researching now! Yes, always something to learn.
It sounds like you are having a great time observing life from on high. Nice the music from the human kids is listenable to. Often they are a rowdy bunch that ruin the nights bliss.
What a shame the fountain is besieged. Maybe a late night outing is called for, MOL

GREAT IDEA, a midnight toss of the coin would be romantic!
Ah, this brings back memories for Our Human – her first trip abroad after graduating with a Classics degree (of course she had to see Rome – and Athens too).
Kudos to your classy mama! So fascinating and rich with stories, Rome and Greece and the groundwork they laid for us all…
