MAMA DOES NOT LIKE CROWDS! So why isn’t she here with ME! I AM NOT A CROWD!
Well, mama wrote me a litter…er…letter saying that she forgets how cordial and polite people are in Texas and what a pleasure it is to do business with southerners and how nice it is, too, because the weather is WARM. So maybe mama and papa will have a little bit of summer, finally.
She says that what’s amazing, too, about Texas, is that everywhere you look there are longhorn symbols and boots on advertising signs and big cowboy hats and at the airport in Austin there’s a sculpture made of enormous guitars all in a circle, I guess because Austin is the music festival center of the USA and there are two weekends of what’s called “Austin City Limits” over the next two weeks at which lots and lots of musicians will play in a huge park and you can wander around from stage to stage and hear everything from country music, rock and roll and anything in between.
I, personally, love opera and quieter stuff, which is what mama puts on for me when she’s about to go out for a little while, but sometimes I change the channel to Dance Party and put in a little practice on my salsa steps (see teacher below) until I hear her key in the lock and then it’s back to Pucini.
But mama has some cds with her of the music those guys play in the open market in our little town and she’s going to pass them out to a few people who promote music and maybe he or she will listen to our amazing town guitarist and want to her more. But mama asked that group one day if they were interested in going bigger or playing in Paris or somewhere like that and they all said, “You know, we love the outdoors and we love our gigs around these little towns and at fairs and things, and it’s a good life and so we’re happy just doing what we’re doing here.”
Nice to find people happy with their work. Mama did a painting of the lead singer who went away to have a baby and so one of the guys took over, but he’s really good, too, and so they don’t lack for multiple talents!
But I’m off the subject, which is, okay, okay, it’s nice there and people are nice and family are nice and it’s nice to be feeling so nice in a nice place but…
WHEN ARE YOU COMING BACK TO CUDDLE ME???
I mean, isn’t that at the top of your list? Huh? HUH?
Oh, Loulou, you must be very lonely without your mom. She’s off gallivanting around Texas. Hope she will be back cuddling you soon.
It’s good to go to friendly places, sort of recharges faith in humanity a bit (says the ape) Will your Mama send you a postcard Loulou? It’s always good to get postcards, preferably ones showing local delicacies that a little cat might enjoy.
We like it that the musicians in your town want to stay there, working out in the streets with the people. That’s love and loyalty rolled into one
