“Morning has broken, like the first morning…” Cat Stevens, I like him!
But sometimes it’s called caterwauling, in my case, haha.
Well, if we all had our ‘druthers, we’d probably hope for harmony with our lives, with our friends, with our fellow kitties, wouldn’t we? But sometimes harmony for no reason at all other than its sound is a lovely thing.
A lady sings on the street at Largo Argentina (which is where the homeless kitties live, for your information), and she has a marvelous voice and mama passes her every day and listens for a moment and the day is brighter. Last night, I heard a tenor in the Pantheon piazza breaking hearts right and left with his lovely voice. And these anthros sing for pennies, really, which is amazing and touching.
A friend of mama’s who sings beautifully and plays ukeleke and cooks and gardens and sews and does caligraphy and knows how to serve a formal tea like the Japanese and knows so many other things (also how to pick out a good partner!) sent mama the most beautiful harmonious song and I think I want you to hear it, too, because when mama played it for me, I was so touched by the sound of the two a cappella voices. See what you think.
And mama says that we all must try to sing more—sing in the shower, sing while you brush your kitties and doggies, sing while you brush YOURSELF, for that matter (except I don’t think you want malt paste for a treat afterwards) and sing too your kids and sing in the car and sing when you’re sad and sing when you’re happy and sing when you think you can’t and I’ll bet you can even sing when you’re ASLEEP. Sometimes I do and mama says, “Loulou, are you dreaming or singing?”
Holidays are a great time to sing—hallelujah, hallelujah, etc. and if you do manage to belt out a song while you’re grooming your pelt, maybe someone will pour you an eggnog as a reward!
Or a martini, mama says, with three olives.
This is not a paid endorsement, but I happen to love this stuff!!! It works. I haven’t had a hairball in three years…whoa!
Who called your singing caterwauling, Loulou? Wasn’t us!
I’ll bet Percy could harmonize with me really well!!!!And all of you, perhaps!
