Well, mama came back from the open market all bubbling and happy because a defunct restaurant down the road has been taken over by a very nice couple, Jinette and Laurence, otherwise known as Gina and Lorenzo (they say—Italian origins) who are going to serve mediterranean food and lots of fish things.
But mostly, mama is happy because the previous owner, who was one of the more interesting “personnages” (a character) in this little ville, did not have success with it and mama was worried it wouldn’t sell when he put it on the market.
One day mama saw a tall, pretty woman sashaying proudly by our local market and asked Maggie, the owner, “Now who was that? So striking and so tall, for a woman.” And Maggie said, “Oh, you know the owner of the restaurant that’s decorated with all Hawaiian flowers and fabrics, he sold his restaurant, had a sex change and is now a woman.”
Well, mama really liked that guy and was so happy to hear that she had found her identity in the world and that she had sold the restaurant. Maybe for the change, who knows? But she looks REALLY good.
So she’s happy in her skin now (the restaurant guy, not mama, although she’s happy in HER skin, too, just as I am) and got rid of a losing business and maybe this new young couple will make a go of it. It’s called Escale Bleu, the blue stop, a place to take a break and stop off and have a bite, and it will open at the end of the month. More on this later—I just hope mama brings home kitty bags from there after she’s tried their fish dishes!
Wouldn’t you be happy in this skin?
By the way, with the crisis, kitty and doggy bags are now acceptable in France, whereas before they were looked upon as a tacky thing to do. No longer!
I’ll be back with news about Escale Bleu and sex changes and fish leftovers tomorrow.
Well, maybe not sex changes—been there, done that in another blog.
But the fish thing, for SURE. As in, the best fish pie recipe ever…
This is NOT a fish pie, but it is fish!
We can’t wait to hear more about the fish. Yum.
Tomorrow is fish pie recipe day. Today was mama’s brother’s birthday and well….she did that instead.
We’re pleased you are happy in your skin, Loulou. Guess you wouldn’t mind some of that fish, skin and all?
Mama’s getting the fixins’ ready for that dish. I’m helping by drooling.
