It seems to me that if there can be an Anti-Muslim organization in Texas, then anyone anywhere can start an anti-ANYTHING organization and I’m not talking about MADD or groups who strive to put an end to drug lords and prostitution and child abuse and human trafficking. But when a group of Texans can have a contest for the best caricarture of Mohammed, the prize being 10,000 dollars, the world is out of hand.  Have these imbeciles even looked at the Koran or read it before they begin to make fun of it?

It is clear that a large group of backwoods bigots live in that town. If it had been an anti-Jewish gathering, all of those attending would be in jail by now, because in the USA, there is freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and freedom of choice but by law, there is not freedom of defamation of and organization against religious beliefs. If that were the kind of freedom allowed, we would be at the mercy of the hated Ku Klux Klan and Billy Holiday’s sad, sad song would again become relevant.

What on earth do they have between their ears, these members of an anti-Muslim organization that rewards hatred. Did anyone learn anything from the sad days at Charlie Hebdo in France?

That debate is still going on—but the beliefs of a religion must be acknowledged and respected if not one’s choice for oneself. Mormons are not punished for their beliefs; Babtists, Lutherans, Holy Rollers are not punished or ridiculed for their choices. The middle east is an exception, of course, because Shites and Sunnis have been warring for centuries as do many tribes in that area. but enough already. This kitty is sad for the guard killed outside the rally, no matter what his belief, and for the subsequent killing of the two assailants.

And mama, being a Texan, is pained deeply by the actions of these mavericks and their racism, small-mindedness, and lawlessness. It’s getting to a point that she’s not as comforable as she used to be saying that she was born in Texas.  Especially when Bush was president…

Certainly it is not only Texas that harbors groups of anti-Muslim, anti-Jew, anti-gay, anti-anything individuals, but when when we see hatred organized and condoned within a large group of anthros, we had all better start figuring out how to stop it. Nazism began in the same way. Facism began in the same way. All of them out of fear and the misguided belief that others should bow to these fears.

Sometimes I am so, so glad to just be a kitty without the complications of the anthro world.

And being scratched makes me feel safer from these zealots. Imagine if they went after us kitties!
