Mama can’t believe these kids came to our little town to leave the gift of their voices. Families here were the hosts and next time, one or two are staying HERE with ME! I’m practicing my myows right now…
Well, the story being that mama and papa came home from a concert the other night of chorale music by a young group of singers called Carmina, and, in highly literary and intellectual terms, they were blown away!
Mama was a once a chorus girl, haha, and she said she had never heard such harmony even from The Red Army Choir, which is not chopped liver (why do anthros use that metaphor–drives me bananas, haha). These kids were so trained and so poised and their choir master, so brilliant, that mama wished she had had someone like him when her chorale was training.
After many lovely Czech folk songs and spiritual music and their rendition of African songs complete with drums and swaying of bodies, they went out with a bang with…guess what? Chattanooga Choo Choo!
So if you have a moment, click on their site and treat your ears to joyful sounds. Mama played their African CD to me and I’ve been dancing ever since…well, not all the time…but some of the time…er…a few minutes a day.
Actually, I prefer to dance in my dreams.
Yes, this IS a dance, okay?
