So do I have to watch Jurassic World? Oh, lordy…
Well, mama and papa have watched a lot of cds of Oscar-nominated films, because papa gets them each year in order to vote (he was a screenwriter/producer years ago), and so I have to sit through six or seven movies, whether I like it or not, when I would much prefer to watch soccer and all those cute anthros running around playing with their balls.
Er…you know what I mean.
So in order of appearance, here’s what went on the list:
LEGEND—A true story and an amazing film about twin brothers, one handsome and fairly sane and one, weirdly handsome but a psychopath, who are leaders of a gang of criminals in London of the 60s. Directed by Brian Helgelund and a master performance of both brothers by Tom Hardy.
SPOTLIGHT—Taken from a true story about pedophilia in the Catholic church in Boston, exposed by a newspaper section called Spotlight. Good performances about disturbing subjects.
BLACK MASS—Another true story of an unholy alliance between the FBI and Whitey Bulger, head of the Irish mob, The Winter Hill Gang in South Boston. Johnny Depp was great, as always, but I was getting up to here with crime movies!
JOY—a sleeper with Jennifer Lawrence who does a bang-up job along with Robert di Nero as her nutty father. Who would think you could do a whole fim about a mop? Charming and feel good. Inspiration for entrepreneurs everywhere.
She and papa took in the grizzly scene (no pun intended) in THE REVENANT and turned it off quicker than a mouse eats cheese. Mama said, “You’ve seen the whole movie in the trailer, but who wants to?” A great director, Alejandro González Iñárritu, gone astray.
Naw, haha, I’m not the movie bear. Do I look computer-generated to you?
They are threatening to see STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON and BEASTS OF NO NATION, but I may have to bow out of those, along with mama.
Only one left, and I’m wearing out. But I do love dinosaurs and weird animals; I just don’t know if I have the strength to sit through another two hours of noise and trauma! Guess which movie THAT is?
Still, it’s so cosy here by the fire and I’m good at shutting everything else out.
Gone kitty.
Hope you had a nice nap (even with all that noise in the background)
Purrs xx
Athena and Marie
Hey, I seem to be able to sleep no matter what, haha.
I ALWAYS have a good nap, thank you.
We think we could survive without watching any of those movies, although we were curious and did a search for the movie with the bear attack. Even though it’s simulated and not real, it sounds just too scary for us.
Believe me, it was awful. I love that director but not his latest movie. Amateur.
You know, I sent replies for a lot of comments a day ago from my Kindle, and I guess they didn’t arrive. Sorry about that. And the bear was FAKE, so there!
We think it’s pretty cool that your papa gets to vote on the Oscars. The mom hasn’t seen any of the Best Picture nominees. But she’ll be watching the Oscars tonight because she likes to see what all the humans wear.
Oh I would love her opinions on anthro clothes. There were some doozies!
Well, what they wore was pretty amazing…I think the dressers are going a bit batty.
OMC Dat’s a lot of movies LouLou. But we can save you all da twubble and tell ya’ dat Jurassic World is Jurassic Park by another name with new peeps. Same ole stuff. Predators get loose and go after everypawdy leavin’ carnage in their wake as dummies run right into da line of fire. And da kids get lost and try to find their way back. Oh an guy gets da girl in da end? We’s not sure ifin it was posed to be a luv story, sci fi or action/adventure. Like we sed, same ole movie with a different title. MOL We’s not seen or heard of da other ones. Well we take dat back, da compton one we’s seen trailers fur but dat’s it.
Dat’s really cool ’bout yous daddy. Good luck with da movie watchin’. Hope ya’ got purrlenty of pawp corn on hand.
Luv ya’
Dezi and Lexi
Thank you for saving me from J World!
WOW, why didn’t we think of popcorn??? Where are our little pea brains?
Let them watch what they want, you can lie there and enjoy the fire which is much better.
Always my choice. I’ll bet you get Devon cream for breakfast. Papa’s favorite!
I do love a nice warm cozy fire to nap by, and yes, I can put up with almost anything when there’s nice fire going.
We think you have exactly the right idea. Our humans will watch the Oscars tonight, but we think the only movie they saw that has any nominations is Bridge of Spies. They don’t get out much! They are very boring people. They saw the trailer at the theatre for Revenant, and Mom said, “pass.” Leo will probably win though. It’s his turn. Isn’t that how those things work?Anyhoo…thanks for hopping. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
Oh, you are so sage…and ‘pass’ was a good decision. The Big Short should have won.
“Pass” was the PERFECT response. Mama said they showed all in the trailer so she was fed up just after that.
Our Movie Man Owen recommends Straight Outta Compton, he admires it a lot. (There is talk it should have had a nummination). Hang in there, the Oscars won’t be long now and they will be out of the way LOL!
Hey, we still have that movie on CD to watch. THANK you for letting us know. Maybe I’ll watch, too.

That is so cool that your Dad gets to vote. I have no interest in Jurassic World either. I did enjoy Black Mass and I want to see Legend.
Legend was amazing because one may played twins and it was really well done and well-directed.
That was interesting about the films. M says they’ll have to try to catch a few of those – there are three that really appeal to her. Great selfie – we love selfies of sleeping kitties.
Thanks, and it is hard to get a good selfie when asleep, haha.
Love your blog, Mario. And love your name! Lits of Italian anthros in my family, and I think cousins could be fun or a PITB…pain in the you know what. Rhymes with ‘what’, haha.
Although it’s pretty hard to take a selfie when you’re sleeping, haha.
