Well, I’m mad. Last night I was watchin’ the Roma play all over the map–a team that is far better than Chievo, who won, I’m very, very sorry to say. I watch a lot of soccer with mama and papa and this was brutal. Why can’t our Roma THINK and SEE and ACT and get out of the way when there’s an opposing player right on his tail (so to speak). They sort of lope around the field in odd places with no strategy except an occasional give and go but when someone has given, the someone going mostly goes in the wrong direction!

Even kitties have strategy in their lives. They try to be where they ought to be sooner than anyone expects them to be there or they show up in the right place when everyone thinks the place that he or she wants the kitty to be is the wrong place and so they end up foxing everyone by being in the wrong place at the right time.

Kitties know how to follow a ball, GET the ball and get it where they want it to go, unlike a few guys I could mention right now. The ball goes IN the net, not at the keeper or over the net, IN the net!

It’s painful watching a great group of guys not know how to play together. So much talent wasted on going backwards when the goal is at the other end of the field.

With no direction home. Like complete unknowns. Like rolling stones (thank you again, Bobcat Dylan).

Oh, for the Roma to take a pinch of Barcelona’s passing and the defence strategy of Naples and the speed of Bayern (I watch all of those teams and really, I can’t get enough–people think that when you leave a kitty alone, you’re supposed to put on a cartoon or something inane that will keep it company, but just give me a soccer match any day with Messi messing and Totti trotting and Beckham bending!)

If I really want to learn more about chasing balls and pouncing and tearing throats out, soccer is my game and Totti is my guru. But he can’t play for all the guys on the Roma! And what the heck are they going to do when he retires? My fur is standing on end–I can’t imagine the Roma without Totti.

And don’t get me started on the arbitrators–make that arbi-traitors–tonight this one was blind and in this sport, you never know who’s doing someone a little favor. I’ll bet if I’d been on that field I could have made him sit up and take notice when Totti was fouled IN THE PENALTY AREA. DUH.

A little leap onto the back with claws out everytime he screwed up and he’d learn to call the game.

I’m goin’ to sleep. It’s the only way out of messes like this one.
