Well, I wanted to tell you about mama’s mama. She died, as you know, during holidays, and mama grieved for almost a year. Papa was getting a little worried as mama worked through this sad event, but there is a happy ending.
One night mama had a dream. There was a (red-old-timey) phone booth, remember them? And the phone was ringing and mama went to answer it. She said hello and her mama was on the line, and her mama said, “I just called to say goodbye“.
And it was over.
Thank you, Vicki, at Eastside kitties, for the story about your grandfather. So amazing, as these things are….
But, of course, mama, I see that it was over but not ever really finished when you lose someone you love.
Still, you have me and papa and we will snuggle you all the way to New Year’s and beyond, avec plaisir…are you ready?
oh my I am sooooooo sorry!!!! (((hugs))) But…I LOVE that you had that dream (that in my opinion wasn’t a dream at all, it WAS your Mama) xoxo
Mama says it was so crystal clear and her mama looked so mama-like and healthy. That was nice. And her mama was perfectly capable of coming back to vist!
What a special dream for your mama.I know it brought her much comfort. This time of year always seems to make us miss those that aren’t here anymore even more. Purrs…. ~Ernie
Well, it was a good goodbye after all, and a sweet memory.
When Petcretary hears certain pieces of Classical music, she is brought to attention, because she associates them closely with here loved ones who have gone on to the heavenly realms. She heard one earlier today, (Mozart’s Piano Concerto #20), and it made her have fond remembrances of her Mom, and her Aunt. When they were still with us, if she heard that music she would right away phone them to find out what was up, be it good or bad…it was the signal! I wish I had a phone # for all of them in heaven…
I forgot to say: Hugs and love to your Maman at this time of the year…bittersweet…but the treasury of memories is there forever to be cherished and pored over, maybe a new one might be rediscovered.
Merci to you all. We do have sweet memories of mama’s incredible mama, warts and all…she was a pistol. You all have a lovely sweet, safe holiday.
How lovely. And mama and we love Mozart! Mama tinkles a few of his tunes on the pianoforte…Yes, a phone # would be wonderful!
I’m so happy that your mama had that beautiful dream and was able to move on, Loulou. Grief is unfortunately never linear, there is always ups and downs, but she has you for comfort.
Yes, I am comfort and mama is fine now. It was indeed a long goodbye, back in the 80s. Still here…
Your Mamma did that for a reason! She knew you were suffering and she wanted it to end. And it did – you knew she was in a better place without suffering. I knew animals also had souls – when the moment Sassy (the cat) died – Pepper who was blind looked at the wondow and howled.
Oh, mama wishes she had known Sassy and Pepper! Yes, animals know so much more than we, so often.
What a beautiful dream❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘
Yes, it was amazing, Dolores! I wish you could visit here with Lynne! We are so isolated…
What a wonderful offer to help comfort your mom. You are a good kitty, Loulou. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, angel Mauricio, Misty May, angel Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy, Sawyer & Kizmet
Well, I snuggle up and all cares disappear! All of you, please have a safe and lovely holiday. Another year on the way…jeez….
Our Dad still dreams about is Dad, they always did lots and lots of things together.
Oh, how lucky and wonderful. Mama dreams about her mama, too, but not as often as she would like. Her mama is always young in her dreams.
I am glad your mama had that dream. I believe our loved ones do find ways to help us from the other side. XO
Well, this was cathartic. And to have the long grief-stricken year end was magical. What a mama’s mama.
Thank you for sharing your Mom’s story…..My Mom has a rather remarkable tale about her Dad which is too long to tell here but very special too. I’m so happy your Mom got that phone call and I’m sure she feels her Mom with her always in her heart.
Hugs, Teddy
Oh, Teddy, now we would love to hear the story! Maybe in your blog? These incidents are so important. Mama was really amazed at her dream and it was so clear. She still sees the red phone booth. Must have been a London one….
What a wonderful dream to have had.
As long as we remember them they are never truly gone.
Have a peaceful Sunday…
Noodle and crew
Hi, Noodle! Welcome back and yes, it was truly amazing and mama was so calm after that. All sadness over.
I think your mum will be sad but embrace a happier future now her Mum has said a proper goodbye. She was obviously worried your Maman was grieving and not looking to the sunshine.
They never go, or leave, really. They are in our memories.
Yes, always in memories and hearts, thank heaven. As are animals, too, mama has loved.
What a lovely dream!
After my father passed, I began to get anxious because he never appeared in any of my dreams for a very long time.
Finally, he did, and he told me that he’s still with me every day.
By the way, there is a book by Mitch Albom “The First Phone Call from Heaven”.
Your mama might enjoy it.
What a great title! Merci. I know mana will look at that one. And we are glad your papa came back to let you know he is with you. Another lovely dream, amazing what we do with these moving moments.
That is so sad, but so beautiful.
Well, it was an incredible experience for mama and right on time.
