Resting up on my cloud before all those bangs go off!
Mondat words from the brilliant Leonard Cohen that seemed so perfect to us for the New Year;
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There’s a crack in everything.
That’s how the light gets in.
Mama also read this in Louise Penny’s second book, A Fatal Grace. Many of her books contain poems from a character, Ruth Zardo, an old besotted very famous poet who comments throughout the book with her “poetry”, some borrowed from other poets by Louise Penny but always acknowledged, We love this one for starting the New Year by ringing the bells that can still ring….love that,
We all have bells that can still be rung…
RING OUT in 2025!
The bells which can still ring will make a beautiful harmony.
And we bloggers have our bells ready to ring!
We love Leonard Cohen and Louise Penny. And we love you too, Loulou!
MERCI, Ms Mollie! We shall think of that when we hear and read both! Merci.
What great words to live by! Hoping for a great New Year!
Love and health and adventures to you, Mr Murphy, and your sweet family. Mama’s grandchild just adopted a Tuxie so now you have a new little friend through us. Willl post a pic
We are all hoping that the new year will truly be a BETTER year even though there have been times when we’ve wondered whether that was possible! We believe in positivity – so we will wrap that feeling around us in the new year like a warm sweater and cross our fingers. We wish everyone a Happy New Year.
Love, Teddy and Mom Pam

Merci and a safe New Year’s.
We are not looking forward to the fireworks here, they will be loud and scary.

We loved the thought of ringing bells, too.

Absolutely LOVE Louise Penny’ books!
Well that’s wonderful to hear. Mama adores them and this is the SECOND time around to end the year with her words. Also adore Donna Leon and the Maisie Dobbs books.
