Well, mama just got a letter from her very dear old friend who lived in that huge city in which I am happy I did not live because it’s a territory a bit too overwhelming for me and I’m not sure I could mark all the corners.
The letter was lovely, about how her friend considers her own kitty, her miniature donkeys, her sweet laying hens, her dwarf goats and the other farm cats as her real family. Mama says she is fortunate, too, to have a loving husband, and he’s definitely a part of the entourage he and she have around them—all very attached to them as their mama and papa, just like mine.
Families are where and how you make them and some of the members who come into the group and some who go out again are just part of the ebb and flow of meeting people and knowing in your heart of hearts just who are your true family and who are not and might never be.
I think kitties are all related somewhere, just like anthros, but I like to keep my kitty family a bit smaller than most. I know a lot of kitties, but I bond with only a few, just like some anthros I could name….
When mama read me that letter, it touched my little pitty-pat heart so much that I wish I could visit that farm where all those nice animals live together in harmony, just like here in the little peaceable kingdom where I lie in the sun side by side with those dumb tourterelles and little chirpin’-poopin’-hoppers. But I don’t mind dumb family members—in fact, “dumb” is mama and papa’s favorite word of praise for when one or the other says something truly funny and un-selfconscious. Dumb is a good four-letter word and should be used as frequently as possible.
So thank you, mama’s friend, for bringing my attention to all the nice members of our little family here. Perhaps there will be more one day—just NOT another CAT!!!!
