I see those donks waiting for mama to visit. They have a long wait!
Well, you have probably seen this but it does brighten the day. I wonder if mama gets that sort of treatment from those hee-hawing donks across the way?
She had better wash off afterward, that’s all I can say…
She really wants to visit them as she used to do so often, but we are in this lock-downed little village and the gendarmes actually do stop people and ask reasons for being out.
I can just hear mama, “Oh, these little donkeys and Pompanette, the mule, will go into depression if they are not visited regularly.”
The gendarme (who probably has known these animals since they were babies) will probably look at mama as if she were from Mars and say, “You’ve got to be kidding. Show me your legal paper that says depressed donkeys may be visited.”
And mama will say, “Well, I had it with me, in my hand, but when I was giving Pompanette her carrot, she was so hungry, she ATE it by accident!”
I can just see that guy’s face, haha. And mama will call us to bake her a cake with a file in it, whatever that means.
That police officer was probably muttering under his breath, “What a wacko. Next thing you know she’ll be asking if she can visit with a shrink! Hey, just send those donks a couple of the hilarious WhatsApps I’ve been getting. They’ll perk up!”
Haha, that’s a good one!
Sounds like those donkeys are good therapy.
Oh, they are, they are, except for the hee haw at 5am.
LOL – well, your mama could always put on the form she was going to the grocery store – and got lost? Or get you a poussette, close the cover (it’s like a baby carriage) and say your cat needed fresh air and a walk? I’m sure the donks would be cheered up to see you, Loulou. There are gendarmes all over the place here – but so far we haven’t been stopped – but ALWAYS have our papers!!! It has been really nice though – practically NO cars!!!
It must be nice in a strange way with no cars and quiet and no tourists! Hmm…maybe dress Loulou as a small hairy baby who needs fresh air, haha. Do babies have whiskers?
Loulou, your Mama could always do what my Mama did when the security guard in Zara in Barcelona told Mama doggies weren’t allowed. I was in my stroller and mama yelled at him – you think my grandchild looks like a dog!? He didn’t know whether to laugh or be afraid. It worked.
Oh, that is priceless! I hope you said, “Goo goo”.
My momma would want to stop by and visit the donkeys, too. When she and Dad go to the local farm to get fruits and veggies and pumpkins at ALL HALLOWS EVE time she says hi to the beasties behind the fence and takes pictures of them, too. I think she’s always wanted one of her own. Purr purr purr.
So how would you get along with one of these donks, Valentine? They are very gentle….
We have a stay at home order, but one an go to the bank, grocery store and stuff like that. No one asks why we are out.
Well, lock-down is perhaps not as enforced as it is here, but is IMPERATIVE that people distance and NOT collect in any kind of gathering, period. The USA was very late in handling this pandemic. VERY late, thanks to no preparation for an emergency, no ventilators for ALL hospitals, and now states are fighting with each other for ventilators and out-bidding each other and behaving like school children. The United States of America MUST HAVE A MEDICAL SYSTEM THAT FUNCTIONS. All of the European countries have one, and the government has the FUNDS to create medical care for all. It’s hard to watch.
Hopefully whoever comes to be sure the Donks have food and water will hug them a bit ! Meantime, you should up your cuddling game to make Mama (and Papa) feel better.
Don’t the Donkeys sometimes get loose and come into your garden ? What will the gendarmerie do if they come looking for your Mama ?
They are in a large ex-parking lot, not concreted over, full of new spring shoots, and they go out each day for a few hours to help their hooves and to eat more in the fields. They are very trained and the owner has a sheep dog who herds them nicely but I have walked out of my house to see them walking down our street and if they see me, they all come over to beg for carrots!
