I’m tired of La Gazzetta—I NEED A BOOK!!!
I’ve always loved that description but mama doesn’t look anything like the worms I find in our garden. And do worms read? Well, I do anyway.
Maybe someone out there can suggest how to choose the next book he or she reads. I have this list mama gave me of so many authors and so many Man Booker (make that Anthro booker) prize winners and the New York Times literary list and suggestions by other kitties and then suggestions by mama, but it’s hard for me to choose the next book and I am in dire need of a good read. Haha, poet and don’t know it, but my paws show it: they’re Longfellows, haha.
Recently, I wrote about Karen Joy Fowler and We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves and then I found out that she had won the PEN/ Faulker award for that same book and I was so, so happy for her! It was one of my favorite books that mama has read to me over the last two years, but now we find ourselves completely beside ourselves, haha, looking for a book that will really make us both sit up and take notice.
If anyone has a favorite book—mystery, fiction, non-fiction, historical, whatever—please leave a comment and mama and I will do some research and see if it’s our next read.
THANK YOU, thank you for your help. There are so many good writers out there and certainly, neither mama nor I know the unknowns who have put pen to paper and come out with a jewel.
I’ll be waiting for your suggestions! And merci again.
What about ‘The Goldfinch’ by Donna Tarte?
Well, mama ploughed through that one after having loved the first book by Ms Tarte, but felt it was overloaded with druggies and went on for about 200 pages too long. A good writer but Karen Joy Fowler runs rings. Now she’s discovered Linn Ullman who is really, really good. But thank you for your response. Mama eats books so it’s nice to hear about anything new from my readers.
