I SMELL SMOKE!
Well, I was writing along, about to tell you something I don’t remember, and mama yells, “LOULOU, there’s a brush fire up in the vineyard!” So I ran out and there was lots of smoke and fire engines making noises that doggies hate and there were flames and things going on I’ve never seen so I asked mama to snap a few shots of the emergency and here they are:
In the middle of the photo are the flames that one can see from our roof. The others are hidden and there was lots of smoke on the left that mama missed in this shot.
But then there was the sound of a chopper and it got louder and louder and TO THE RESCUE, just like the movies, our valiant fire department, along with a couple of trucks that couldn’t reach the fire, showed up with whatever it is they drop on the flames and voila’–fire under control. The chopper was exciting, I have to say, and those guys really know their business!
Well, that’s about it for today, but to me, that’s ENOUGH. My ears are still buzzing from the helicopter sounds. But bravo to the fire department–they were SO FAST to get here and put out the flames! And it was very close to a friend’s property–in fact, we’re calling her now to see if it WAS her property. More later…that was exhausting.
Wow what a day! I bet you had quite a good time watching the action! Great pictures by mom, and great job firemen!
Those guys were really amazing. Fire contained in 15 minutes! And there were other water-bombers standing by down at the sea, I am told.
That was scary, Loulou! But we’re so glad the fire department got there quickly and put out the fire. Even if it did make your ears buzz.
We have a lot of fires here in the US…unfortunately, they are out of control and burning so much of the forests. So sad.
Oh, I have heard. Montana especially is suffering and so many other parts of the country. And now another hurricane, Jose, starting up somewhere. This was a tiny brush fire but you never know where that may go.
Oh my that is scary but thank God they got it under control. Do they know how it started?
I have not heard as yet, but it was relatively small and contained quickely…Cigarette?
Great work! We hope it wasn’t your friend’s land, and whoever it belonged to doesn’t have much damage.
I think it burned some grapevines, but around here, that’s big.
That is too much excitement for anyone.
Well, certainly for anthros. I sort of like the helicopter’s “thrup, thrup, thrup”noise
So glad “all’swell that ends well”! I hope the vineyard itself is all right, as well as any people & animals. Having chemicals sprayed all over the grapes might not be good, but having them sizzled into instant raisins wouldn’t be good either !
Ha, ha, instant raisins! That’s a good one. Yes, better to have no fire and there were not alot of vines but some property of a friend, all okay now. Thanks for your concern
