Can you believe this? A word of cheer for the last days of the year.
Do you realized, all of you wonderful bloggers out there, that you are actually keeping a daily journal of your lives, your loves, your troubles, your changing views, the histories of your families and so much more. Mama has always lamented to me that she wishes she had kept a journal from an early age, and I said to her, “Mama, you have BEEN keeping a journal of your life for ever so much time by writing articles and books, but especially during the last four years, by helping me write about all those things mentioned above!” Miracolo! You should have seen the look of awe on her face.
And she just looked at me and said, “Loulou, what would I do without your observations? I will stop beating myself over the head about it, because you are absolutely RIGHT!”
And I said, “Make that “write”, haha.”
And mama laughed and the day began yet again with smiles. We have decided that around here we are going to smile alot these last days of 2016 and remember that even when you don’t feel like it, you can practice a smile and your body will go along with it. FYI, imagining the taste of dark chocolate helps start one…
YIPPEE!! I’m all for cheer – there has been a shortage here lately, but that will change. When our humans feel sad or stressed, we do too. But our talent is helping them cope – with purrs and snuggles. Well, i don’t quite have the purring thing down yet. But i have a really cute wiggle & smile routine that works every time.
We could have written a joint “The Princess Diarists”, since that’s what we are – but thats been done. oops – maman on the verge of another sad attack. More snuggles…..
OH, Mya, your mama and papa HAVE been though a lot over the last few weeks (years?) and you are the best possible consolation for their sadness (relief?). Snuggle your little heart out.
Mom Paula says blogging helps her record our daily lives.
Yes, and that is a journal of your whole self! What a discovery.
Loulou, you are so right. And when we comment, we leave a little bit of ourselves on record too !
“All houses wherein men have lived and died
Are haunted houses.”
What a wonderful quote. Mama is looking it up and thank you! YES, the comments are part of the journal, too.
Well, now that you mention it, I have no idea who said it. Turns out to be Longfellow. That’s twice I’ve quoted him to you and not known it was he. My Mother chose lines from him to be read at her funeral : Life is real/Life is earnest/And the grave is not the goal./Dust thou art, to dust returnest/ Was not spoken for the soul.
She died Dec 31 1987. When I gave the minister that quote he was – to say the least – impressed. It’s part of a longer poem that I forget the title of, but it too is Longfellow.
Thank you so much, Mcmcneil, as I adore poetry and that one was especially poignant as mama´s mama died in Dec also and so we are thinking about her, and your, mother. A lovely stanza. We are going to find the poem. Xxxx
I wish I had been blogging longer than 2 and a half years so I could have a journal of all my cats, but I am glad I do now. I like your idea to smile :)XO
I’ll bet there are many who wished they had begun their writing earlier, but how wonderful to start ANYTIME.
Yes, this is a journal of your life and travels, Loulou. And through you, also of your mama and papa’s. You are such a help to your pawrents. 🙂
Oh, I do enjoy observing life around me, especially the antics of these crazy anthros, haha. Sometimes I think I should be more direct about what I see.
Loulou, you are so smart. Yep, we keep our blog as a chronicle of our lives. Enjoy your smiles. 🙂
The smiles I REALLY enjoy are yours and all those I have met through writing.
Yep LouLou, mommy wishes we had a catputer a long time ago so she coulda wrote ’bout sis Lexi and Lucky and all da others. But alas, we’re makin’ up fur it now. Specially in da foto depawrtment. We’ve taken da last few days off so mommy could get all da fotos she took over Christmas loaded up and ready to post. She took over 300 fotos in less than a week. Da digital camera is da bestest thing since sliced bread as far as mommy’s concerned. MOL We’re just glad to be your furiends and share a few moments of our day with ya’ll. Big hugs
Luv ya’
Dezi and Raena
Oh, Dezi and Raena Belle, the digital camera is definitely one of the best inventions since mice, haha, but mama goes nuts trying to delete and organize her pics—300 will certainly give your mama something to do for the next century, haha. Mama keeps saying that she HAS to delete and Cat-egorize, haha.
Happy New Year to you three.
