You feel really good!
No, it’s MY turn!
Oh, this is so, so sweet. One of my cousins, a cheetah at the San Diego Zoo, with whom I have been corresponding, has started writing more than just , “Dear Loulou, how are you? I am fine.” The letters now are outgoing, vivacious (love that word—it’s so ME), and full of chatter about the new companion she has to play with and chase and snuggle up to when she sleeps.
You won’t believe this, but it’s a dog!
And in one of the many articles I read online about this wondrous coupling, Janet Rose-Hinostroza, animal training supervisor at the San Diego Zoo, said that one of the few times the two are separated is the dinner hour. She said that if they ate together, there would be one very fat dog and one very skinny cat! The dog eats kibble and the cheetah eats steak—hey, cats always get the lion’s share, no?
I am so happy for my friend and she might even think about finding a mate, which is what the zoo hopes in doing this experiment. My friend’s family is destined for extinction without making new little cheeties, and the friendship of the dog helps my friend feel more comfortable in captivity and hopefully, more sexy!
I’ll bet things were reversed and I had a dog companion, that dog would starve.
Grow up, kid. I want to play!
