LOULOU, DO NOT LICK YOUR CHOPS OVER A POOR LITTLE CANARY!
Well, mama’s friend, Aunty Lynne, from up the street (down the street?) is taking off today for the Canary Islands after having found a very good price on plane tickets. But this is what I have to know:
Are there canaries all over the place flapping around and dive-bombing the tourists? Or do they just sit on branches and sing their little hearts out. And are they all yellow? Or rainbow colors? Ah, the things we don’t know around here…
But just a couple of days ago, a tiny birdie flew into Aunty Lynne’s HAIR at our little seaside bar, possibly because it had fallen from its nest – the birdie, not her hair. And she held it in her hand and spoke to it for a few minutes and it didn’t move at all, just listened, I think. Lynne thought it might not even know how to fly yet!
Then she opened her hand and it took off up into a date palm nearby. So we hope he/she is okay – the birdie, AND Lynne. Mama is going to go there today and ask around. Mama thinks it was a little bon voyage for the Canary Islands trip!
BOY, the excitement in this tiny ville!
Oh what a little cutie, Loulou. A happy belated birthday to your mama too.
Oh, mama sends you thanks. A day older now, haha. Or two…
I love the idea of a “Bon voyage” for the trip to Canary Islands.
Once in Geneva, a swan about to land nearly scratched my head. Wow!
A SWAN??? They are BIG!!! Wow. That could tangle up one’s hair for days!
Ooooh – this sounds like a fabulous trip. And the little bird story is so sweet – and a happy ending! We went to Blue Beach last night to celebrate your mama’ birthday (in spirit, since we’re 5 hours away!) and they served chips with mama and papa’s drinks and the pigeons were waiting for a chip to drop. I chewed on my rawhide bone and just watched, but I am totally harmless around birds! But they didn’t know that, teehee. Wishing for Lynne a SUPER FUN TIME!!!!!!!
Oh, you all are so good to have drinks for US!!! But why weren’t we there, Mya? We just live too many hours away…sigh. And those PIGEONS weren’t the only ones waiting for a chip to drop….
Awwww,,,,I hope the birdie is OK.
I think it went back to find its mama.
Ummm – LouLou – the Canary Islands are named for DOGS. From the Latin root word for dog “canis”- and where the English word canine comes from. So while I think Auntie Lynne’s hair is safe, YOU might want to stay home ! Purrs.
Oh, boy, that is information mama should have looked up but she loves the idea of little yellow birds all around. Her grandchild spent a year there with the big telescope and mama and papa were going but didn’t make it. Alas.
That is a cute little birdie and an island just for canaries sounds cool.
Well, it’s not a bird island, as Mary Mc Neil has explained, but was named after DOGGIES. I’m off to the internet to do research..
