Hey, I’m not actually asleep–I’m playing possum so my auntie and uncle will come rub my tummy. They are not wise to my tricks…yet.
Well, my auntie Barbara and uncle Dan are here from wherever Sonoma is and tonight mama is making spaghetti alle vongole, pasta with clam sauce (I almost wrote calm sauce but it’s not that calm because there’s a pinch of hot pepper in that dish!). But mama has a secret ingredient that no one knows. Maybe she’ll share that one day with me. My discerning little schnozz smells it but doesn’t know the name. Ah, well. I’d rather let her cook and wait on me, so I don’t let on that I cook, too!
Once, I rabbit-kicked a nip mouse to soften it up so mama could add it to one of her pasta sauces, but she politely declined.
It has been a very (uh, oh, maybe I should write this after midnight!)…er…uneventful Friday the Thirteenth, whatever that is. But mama says that in some countries, thirteen is a lucky number, while in the USA it’s sort of like a black kitty running across your path. Hey, I’m half black so maybe if I ran across anyone’s path the white part of me would cancel out the unlucky part, haha.
I’ll just go with that one.
SO–clams…actually here they are cocques, cockles, but they look like small clams to me and I get at least two or three later on, num num.
Minus the hot peppers, I hope!

Oh, a very sad day for Jesse’s family. Our thoughts are with you.

Really LouLou? We’ve always wondered just what cockles meant? We’re glad you’re gonna get a few bites. It just doesn’t seem fair that you woulnd’t. Big hugs

Yes, it does sound like another word a bit, no….?
We hope you get lots of belly rubs, Loulou. Are you gonna get to taste those clams?
Oh, you bet your boopy. I tasted those clams and a SCALLOP on papa’s birthday.
Oooohweee – Papa is drooling over just the mention of your mama’s spaghetti alle vongole!!! It’s the BEST he has ever eaten and it’s one of his favorite dishes. Well mama likes it TOO – but papa goes bonkers! But don’t be discouraged, I’ll share your mouse – I’m sure it’s deelish. Especially with a garnish of cherry tomatoes…….
Hey, great idea…tomatoes a la rodent.
We have a rule at home, and that is not to feed our cat, Rodger, when we are eating at the table. This rule was made by Rodger’s mama, but she is always the one who breaks it. Rodger is lucky to have a mama like her, just like you are lucky your mama lets you enjoy such good cooking 🙂
p.s. Always without the hot peppers, of course 🙂
Well, we have a rule, too. And it is that when THEY eat, I have already gotten my dinner in my bowl in the other part of the kitchen so we sort of eat together, but not really, and I NEVER beg at the table.
Rodger is a bit spoilt, not like you. You are a very good cat, and never beg at the table 🙂
In the morning, he’s very hungry after a night of sleeping, and unless he gets his breakfast before everybody else, then he won’t stop attacking our legs.
After his tummy is full, he goes back to sleep once more. I wish I was a cat at times 🙂
Yes, it definitely is a kitty’s life!
I am glad you will get to try the clams without the peppers.
I have to report–they are pretty good all by themselves…
Your Aunt and Uncle from Sonoma – did they bring some wine ? Or do they know better ? (I am not much of a wine drinker, so I don’t know how they compare to French wines.)
Well, they didn’t bring wine, which is very good around there, but they did bring mama a lovely thing, which will be on my blog tomorrow….
