Well, mama and I were talking on the phone (YES, I do that) and she was telling me about how everyone, all anthros and kitties and animals and all living things have origins in the universe–amino acids, phosphorus, things that make up living bodies are related to substances from VERY long ago in our cosmos. We are made up, in a way, according to another scientist, of some of the “dung” or compost of the universe. Well, mama will certainly like that because anything with the word “compost” in it gets her attention right away!
“The iron in our blood, the calcium in our bones and the oxygen we breathe are the physical remains — ashes, if you will — of stars that lived and died long ago.” (New York Times–see link)
Frankly, I love thinking that I am related in any way to stardust or debris from some billion-miles-away exploded residue. Around our house we talk a lot about what’s out there and when it happened and before the Big Bang. Especially before. And maybe before that.
Well, there’s some food for pondering until the next rumination on where we came from turns up from my inquisitive kitty brain.
I’m pondering right now, as you can see.
Dreaming of soaring into the universe to gather stardust…
Don’t ponder too hard, Loulou. 😉
Well, I don’t really ponder long before I am taken over by snoozing…
You have mastered the art of relaxing as you ponder, Loulou.
If only there were a place for my back paws!
