Uh, the camera adds pounds, right? Plus I’m on my BACK.
Okay, okay, mama has been searching for how many Kcals are in 100 grams of kitty food, specifically Royal Canine (!) for cats Light Weight, and she cannot find a thing anywhere. Not even her Guru Google seems to know or doesn’t wish to say.
What we DO know is that my kibble is 40% protein, which is good.
What we DON’T know is what a 15-pound Tuxie kitty (uh…me) must have twice a day, wet and dry (including small treats) to lose about a pound or so and be more active and feel better, etc etc etc…
The truth is, mama is very careful about weighing my food and from a 100-gram pouch of Felix Sensations chicken, she gives me only 65g. Then I get 15g of light kibble. Twice a day. But some Tuxies are large and some are small, a Maine Coon can weigh in at 20 pounds and be healthy. Does anyone know what I should weigh? Mama is calling the vet tomorrow because we couldn’t speak at the last once-over.
Meanwhile, try to guess which hamburger is mine…
Brian is right. To maintain your weight you would need 20 calories per pound (we don’t know how that equates to grams and kcals). So anything less than that would help you lose weight. And the most important thing to help you lose weight? Exercise! Have your mama get some extra play time with you.
Thank you, Island Kitties, and yes, mama runs with me in the garden, well, she runs, I go back and forth, and she plays with me with a feather-thing in the morning but when I hear papa open the shutters, I high-tail it downstairs to my…one guess.
Hmmm is it the teeny tiny burger at the top, Loulou? 😉
Well, you are very discerning, Militza, and yes, you guessed it. A rare occasion, haha (it was cooked actually).
LOL – not the big one I’ll bet! Your portions look like mine – Mama taking me for toenail clipping today and will pick up my bagof “Mobility” dog food to mix with the regular. She will ask if there’s something like that for cats! It has really helped me……
Oh, Mya, you are too kind. And if it’s called Mobility, I need it, haha.
Well at least you are going to get a hamburger – even a small one. We hope your Mama gets the answers she wants from your vet (we have no idea, especially in dealing with metrics.) Have you always weighed what you do now ? It is more alarming when kitties lose weight when they aren’t on a diet, so you might remind Mama there is an upside to that, but of course being TOO big can cause health problems too.
But the sooner Mama gets her answers the sooner she will stop worrying about you, and that will make you feel better.
I lost 100 GRAMS. But in my case, no one seems to see it. Darn. Plus it’s on an anthro scale in mama’s arms…not real technically perfect, but still…
I think you are perfect just as you are. Haven’t you read French Cats Don’t Get Fat? Really, there is such a thing, we have a copy. XO
Well, you are FUNNY and I am the paradox, haha.
I hope you at least got some Hamburger. Wo don’t * sigh *
Well, mama NEVER at hamburger until now every now and then because she likes less meat in general, but papa loves one every now and then so I benefit! It is a rare, rare thing, haha.
I don’t know the answer to that one Loulou, but as a general rule to maintain your weight you would need 20 calories per pound, so 15 pounds x 20 calories = 300 calories. Anything less should equal a weight loss.
Thank you for this. I will look into this for my size. The weight calculator says 211 calories for me to lose weight so that seems around the right number. If I were a NORMAL 15 pound kitty, thin for my size, it would be right to have 20 per pound. But I am a bit cheechabomba as they say in Italy….BONA.
