An old photo, of course, but I was always tending my garden…I could not do much for anthro failures.
A possibly helpful spark for today from papa who passed it on to mama and it is from Candide, by Voltaire
“The metaphor of cultivating your own garden has been used in various ways throughout history, but it is most famously associated with the French philosopher Voltaire. In his novel Candide, Voltaire uses the character of Candide to satirize the idea of philosophical optimism, which held that everything in the world was ultimately for the best. At the end of the novel, Candide comes to the conclusion that the key to happiness is to cultivate one’s own garden.
This means that instead of trying to change the world or worrying about the problems of others, you should focus on tending to your own life and finding joy in simple pleasures.”
Sometimes, this is all we can do. We all have our own ‘gardens’ to tend. Tend them well and invite visitors…
Mama’s roses
Our incredibe communal garden in Collioure, begun by Maryline Buckingham who has done wonders with a raw piece of earth.
What beautiful gardens!
Oui, the communal one is a treasure of our little village.
Gorgeous gardens AND a very VERY appropriate SPARK. It’s true – the only thing we can REALLY control is ourselves and our own little slice of the world.
Hugs, Pam (and Teddy too!)
Oui, Mr Teddy and I think your garden of mama and papa and the yard and your sweet life are certaily worth tending.
Sage advice, Loulou. That garden is absolutely gorgeous.
Merci, Ms Militza, and love ‘sage’advice.
So true! Its easy to feel so defeated with this hateful new administration in U.S..we have to grow and appreciate our own little world. Life is beautiful
and so are you!!
We must all resist and fight for our rights when we can. Talk to friends, neighbors, resist this monster.
The communal garden sure looks fabulous!
Brian’s Home
It really is a miracle but comes from hard, hard work by Maryline Buckingham, the head of it all. We are so lucky to have her as a neighbor.
Those are beautiful gardens! Another friend simply says, chop wood, carry water.
Oui, we have heard that also. But we must also resist this monster’s very, very damaging actions against our freedom, inhabaitants and country.
Nice spark and great advice. XO
Merci, Ms E. Gardens help clear the dirty air….
This broadened my horizons LouLou – I have not read Voltaire. Thank you for sharing his good observation.
De rien, it’s certainly a message we can utilize right now, feeling so helpless about this turn of events.
A brilliant quote, sweet Angel LouLou and your garden looks so beautiful too. And do you know how wonderful it is to see you and to visit you here too
Double Pawkiss for you and your mommy too

Yes indeed, if everyone cultivated their own gardens, earth would be a lot pleasanter…when one gardens there isn’t much time or energy left to get into fights with others.
I liked seeing your home and community gardens. That large garden is so lush and vibrant!
We’ll put in more pics as it grows and blossoms. The creator is really an amazing woman.
