General Grant said he only knew two tunes : one was Yankee Doodle and the other one wasn’t. Well, our Mama knows more than two tunes but when it comes to this marvelous one, she can never remember if it’s “Ode to Joy” or “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.”
It’s Beethoven’s Ode to Joy but mama sang the other one often with a choir. Beautiful, both.

Oh, mama wishes so much to be in a chorus again. She sang all through school and after with a friend and they wrote silly songs, but her friend went on to write Sweet and Shiny Eyes, which Bonnie Raitt recorded!!! Her friend is a good songwriter. Nan O’Byrne.
