THERE HE/SHE IS (I mean, is there a way to tell?) ABOUT TO PIG OUT! I think his/her fan belt is slipping…
Well, at this time of year our turtledoves are cooing and warbling and coming down to dine out on the terrace where mama puts out 7-grain crackers! I think they are singing but in a different dovey down home way…only other tourterelles can understand them.
Next thing you know, they’ll want paté!
Or a little slice of Brie…
Spoiled rotten, I call them.
But I steer clear of those birdies. They look dumb but trust me, they are fiendish feather fluffers! When there is a third intruder as our couple are feasting, it’s curtains for that guy. I think there is definitely a pecking order, haha.
What is he/she thinking? Maybe wants a better kind of cracker, the little turkey!
Have to go help mama make their canapés.
When they start coming in the open door to the kitchen, and they are capable of that, I’m outta here.
Probably helping themselves to a little vino…
HAH, now he’s/she’s peckin’ away. Maybe I’ll watch from here just to make sure they don’t attack mama’s hors d’oeuvre-making.
Aww…live dove tv…I love it! The only way you can see that it’s a he or she, is that the lady is smaller than the man and she likes to wiggle in a more elegant way, than the male…just like human…MOL.. It’s easier with the kiddos, they don’t have a black necklace…MOL😸Pawkisses for a Happy Sunday🐾😽💞
OH, thank you, bird-expert-of-all-birdies…I need to look carefully next time. Or mama will look, they bore me.
They’ll definitely want a bit of brie with those crackers, Loulou. Delicious!
Yeah, well, they GOT it, haha. A tiny piece…
Loulou – there are birds everywhere here, too!! And they’re building nests in the trees in front of our apartment – we can’t exactly see the nest – yet – but the birdies are bringing twigs up into the trees! If we leave our windows open we, too, will have visitors. Better hide my paté – and mama’s spritz mix!!!
Oh, Mya, they are going to want it all. It’s a bird thing.
“…and the voice of the turtle is heard in the land.” -Song of Solomon 2:12
Mama loves that part of the Song of Solomon…so beautiful. Have you ever heard turtle music…?
They are pretty birdies but they’re not very social here…must be the ferals!
Maybe. Those could certainly dissuade these guys but they don’t seem to bother with me and vice versa.
