Uh, oh…the zucchine plant got out of hand….

Well, mama has to watch that habit she has of putting ‘just a little bit’ of organic fertilizer in her watering can.

Can you believe a FIVE-POUND zucchine?

Well, you’re lookin’ at it.

Maybe I should take a shot of that stuff…then I could throw my weight around a bit more, haha.

I think we’re also going to have the attack of the killer tomatoes pretty soon, too.   And if the zucchine and the tomatoes join forces, we’re gonna have to MOVE!!!

Still, it’s great to see mama go out in the morning and be tickled that all of her veggies are growing so well (!) and that there will be lots of things to eat when the step-kids and step-grandkids get here for a big part of the summer.  What was amazing the other evening is that the winds from Spain started blowing and went on for hours, tossing the tomato plants hither and thither and me, too!!! If I hadn’t been hiding under the lavender plant, I would have been flying off into god knows where and you wouldn’t have found me in weeks.  But I anchored myself really well and then, being a smart kitty, I beat it out of there and high-tailed it for the safety of the kitchen from where I could watch the wind show.  Then, just as suddenly as it had begun, it stopped, leaving the garden a bit bedraggled and wee-wah, but the tomatoes were still on the vines and no wind on earth could have moved that squash you see above!

The soft, lovely evenings are back and the sun is making wonderful Fauve colors on the vine-covered hills and all’s right with the world.

Well, not quite all right.  I think Chile should have won yesterday as they were the better team, but I guess if you’re the host country, it’s nice to know you might win the whole shooting match.  Now I’m going to check out Mexico and the Netherlands and even if orange is mama’s favourite color, I think I’ll root for Mexico, ole!

Oh, and I was REALLY happy for Julio Cesar, goalkeeper for Brazil, who was having a hard time in the soccer world and now he’s a national hero because of his great saves yesterday on the free kicks, one right after the other!  I’ve watched him for years and hope to watch him for many more.  BRAVO, Julio.
