What is mama doing in there? OH, fried artichokes…I think she’s going to freeze them for Easter Sunday. But I wish she’d throw one my way before that. Just kidding, I don’t think kitties eat artichokes but you never know from all the amazing kitties I have encountered on blogs. Maybe there is an artichoke-eating kitty who dips his or hers in lemon butter!
I do know that mama is planning on a crowd, 18, I think, is the final count, and there will be a salmon, smoking. No, no, I mean a smoked salmon and butter mixed with capers. And some guacamole, whatever that is, and some anchovy rolls, and best of all, stuffed eggs. Even I love those because mama makes me one without mustard or curry flavour. Actually I only like the white part but aren’t they supposed to be in colors for Easter? It’s funny but around here there are no white eggs! So mama boils them in tea and then cracks them all over with a spoon and lets them cool in the tea. When you peel the egg, it look like marble! Cool, huh? I hope those anthros will EAT them but not if they think they are actual marble. Oh, boy, that’ll be fun to watch.
Anchovy and caramelized onion pinwheels. I scratched the onion and ate the anchovy before it got to the roll, haha. Well, a tiny piece. They are awfully salty but I think mama soaked them in water for a minute or two before using.
Then there is flourless chocolate nut cake (called Capri Cake–who knows why) and some truffles and mama’s ginger cookies and at that point, hey, bring out the coffee and let everyone go home so I can NAP!!!
Just practicing before next week…

And for an Easter special, take a sweet look at THIS. Talk about loving parents!!!
We’ll skip the artichokes too, Loulou.
Hey, but the butter, too? Don’t do that!
WOW – Marble eggs!!! You sure your mama isn’t working on commission with the local dentist!? I just don’t get those anthros – always experimenting with exotic stuff (MY mama was in the kitchen all morning making all kinds of dreadful edibles) but she has sangria in the freezer (like a sangria slush) so doesn’t have a clue. I just hope she doesn’t start messin with my kibbles!!!
Poor papà – he is the recipient of all these horrors – today was appetizer of chorizo paste in what tasted like pizza dough. The main course was chicken in a lemon and gin sauce she discovered in Spain and wanted to duplicate. Something went terribly wrong. But papà eats anything, so she’s not in the dog – or cat – house just YET!!! But she says the spiced nuts are good, whatever they are.
Hey, that lemon and chicken thingy sounds GOOD. With gin? Whatever that is! But nuts I can understand. Nuts to the nuts, right, and these guys have to be nuts to try out these weird recipes. Thank heaven we are there to stabilize the situation.
Oh Gees, LouLou, your Mama’s cooking always gets me salivating, and drooling on to my starfish, and Grandpa Barrie keeps saying when are they coming?? when are they coming???? And what can I say ..
They prefer to be with their friends in Europe rather than their Mates in Maui ..
I’ll just lay down and feel sorry for myself – at least you get to catch a few crumbs .. boo hoooooo
Oh, Grandma Ros, I do miss you so much, even if I have never met you and I’m so glad you like your starfish. At least it’s a little memory of all of us. Mama’s going to write you tomorrow and let you know what’s up. Love from here!
The baby animals in the link were wonderful. Your Mama’s menu sounds pretty amazing too. (I love anchovies and “deviled” eggs too!)
Well, wish you could drop by. Hmm…maybe the anchovies IN the deviled eggs, that’s a thought!
Those guests are so lucky to get to have your Mama’s cooking. The artichokes look so good.
Well, tomorrow mama’s going to freeze them and see if they turn out okay for Sunday, unfrozen and just heated up a bit. Always experiments around here. Today she made ginger cookies thicker than last time, but papa pronounced them much better thin. Mama’s thin ones won.
It’s good your mama and papa won’t be alone for Easter. You either.
Yes, well, they have created quite a crowd. So alone, no, but the funny thing is, they LOVE to be alone and yet there are always these shindigs for holidays…often just to pay people back, but this time it’s just for fun. I’m headed for under the bed. Today they had THREE tiny midget anthros over here and they pestered me ALL EVENING, stroking my fur and saying sweet things and trying to give me treats. I’m exhausted!!!
