MAMA, how long do I have to keep shelling?
Well, here we are, all of us in this together, so today I will borrow from Atcad and simply share some lovely spring plant photos with you instead of meaty, pithy, in-depth thoughts about the state of our world…
If you have never gardened, mama says to plant nasturtiums. They will come up whether you like it or not, and the flowers are lovely in salads, mild taste, non-toxic (!) and just plain pretty! A flower one can count on…
This little corner of our rosemary surprised us when the nasturtiums started peeking out and climbing the wall!
And another of the sage, which the bees adore. This is a good plant to have as many of our bees in this part of France are disappearing and we’ll need our tomatoes zapped.
And then, the first burst of Charlotte roses, planted from a branch of our neighbor’s grandmother’s rose bush, which would now be over 100 years old. The grandmother was Charlotte – we don’t know the name of the rose. Wait a minute, isn’t that a book, haha?
Even planting something in a little pot might be fun to do and watch it grow…there is certainly plenty of time.
Maybe we can find the name of that rose in mama’s garden books.
Wow, so nice to see flowers…especially since we got snow yesterday. Fortunately, it’s warmer today and all the snow has melted.
You can make snow ice cream next time…
Dad so wants to start planting but we are not allowed to buy things. *Sigh* This too shall pass. Love your flowers
Do you have any dirt nearby? Maybe a couple of seeds in a little egg carton or something? See places will send seeds.
Maybe an egg carton and the neighbor’s dirt? Seeds can be sent perhaps.
Oh Loulou, your mama’s flowers are gorgeous. What a pretty garden.
Oh, thank you…and I have such nice moments there.
CANDY? Well, that got my attention! And as soon as wefind beans- Mama’s going to try your mamas recipe!! BUT today is my chicken hamburger – Dogador from Picard. Mama looked and she couldn’t find if it was safe for cats – but hey – tastes like chicken!?
Is it vegan? Maybe made with ground up whatever-is-lying-around? Just kidding. Picard is a class act, Mya! And I didn’t mean to grow POT but IN A POT.
WOW, your Spring is looking really nice Loulou!
Well, it is nice except for my typos….
Very pretty flowers, but you are the prettiest.
Aw, Ellen, you spoil me too much…
Those are lovely plants, LouLou – but no catnip ?
A huge bed of catnip just under the sage.
