BRAVO, TOTTI!!! ADDIO alla ROMA
Okay, okay, I know not everyone is up on why Francesco Totti is the grandest Roman soccer player of all time, hero of Rome, beloved by all Italians and a brilliant athlete on so many fields in his lifetime. I’m sure there will be a film of his more than 300 goals and frankly, I can’t wait, being a soccer-loving kitty. Mama took some pics off of the tv but of course there are wonderful pictures of Totti everywhere on the internet. Just go to youtube addio alla roma and you will find many lovely videos of Totti’s goodbye to his beloved team and his long, incredible career. None of us here in Rome can imagine life without him in the stadium.
Mama and papa saw his last game of his seasons with la Roma team, and the whole stadium was in tears!!! So moving. Here is the lovely song, written by Venditti and sung at every game before the start. Mama told me that when you go to the stadium and hear thousands of voices singing Roma, Roma, Roma that it’s one of the most beautiful experiences that one could have at a sports event.
But Totti is gone. Retired after all his glory, and with a beautiful wife and three darling kids, he will have his hands full just being a daddy and a husband for a change. But oh, how the crowds will miss him. Nothing will be the same. It will take many, many years to get over not having him at the stadium.
And I love him even if he does have a Labrador…
We don’t follow soccer much but it must have been fun for your humans to see Totti’s last game.
Oh, they both cried, along with all of Rome and many of the teammates.
BEAUTIFUL song and visuals, Roma, Rome, Roma!!!! Mama was almost in tears – and she doesn’t even like football!!! Maybe she’ll sing that when she and papà throw my ball to chase (must say I am still GOOD and FAST)! Well, maybe on second thought given her singing skill…….but after an Apérol Spritz – who knows – it might improve! Well, Loulou, it’s clear you are celebrating and I can just hear you yelling out mmmeeeeooooowEEEEEE!!!! in that first shot!! GO, Girl – show your spirit – for Roma!!!!!
Well, I had to see it on my TV but I forgot to tell my kittysitter and so I’ll have to just live it vicariously. Whatever that is.
That is so wonderful your folks got to see his last game.
Well, on TV. We had relatives visiting and I know they might have loved it but the tickets were $$$$$$$$$$ and one had to book them a year in advance! Plus you have to have IDs for all who are going, etc. Very complicated.
What a super nice tribute to your hero Totti. We don’t know much about soccer but any human who chases a ball is a darn good one! Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Wow, and does he CHASE. It’s his kicks, though, that are miraculous. Right into the goal.
I’m sure we have seen him a time or two on TV when they do clips of the matches. Looks like a nice young man in addition to being a great player.
A lovely person, lovely family, one in a million. Rome will never be the same.
Glad your Mama & Papa were able to see this great athlete ! Does this mean they can come home now ?
Well, no, they have another couple coming to visit Rome and mama and papa are mainly there because of the little grand-anthros and papa’s son and his wife and papa’s ex whom they both love a lot and that’s why. But it will be soon now, I HOPE.
We’re glad you don’t have anything against him for having a dog, Loulou. After all, some of your blogging friends are dogs. 🙂
LOVE DOGS!!!!! and you know which ones I’m speaking of.
