Do you think those guys are going to agree on ANYTHING?
Well, our French president and out USA president are meeting for fireworks for July 14th.
And there should be plenty to go around.
At least the food will be great! Lucky Trump.
Bastille Day here is really quite wonderful with the most beautiful feu d’artifice (artificial fire=fireworks) over the bay at a little town 2 kilometres away, Port Vendres. Everyone has a simple dinner at restaurants along the water and watches from there–there is a special menu for the evening, not very expensive, with a first course, a main course and dessert. Wine, of course, since this we are in…duh…France. I have to say, the French really know how to live. Maybe it’s because they are a very social and outgoing people–they travel in groups and eat in groups and walk in groups or in twos and threes. The same goes for Italy. But often the French get a bad rap of being distant and cold. None of us in this family have found that to be true, and on July 14th, their Independence Day, you will the French at their best. I’ll take some pics when the holiday rolls around.
Meanwhile, we are back in cold, damp miserable weather, wondering where these radical changes come from. All the lemons have fallen off the tree at last but perhaps our heavy rain will encourage the pathetic tomatoes in mama’s garden to get with it!!! The two courgettes are in hibernation, haha.
I’m still stalking the wild tourterelles.
Well, as you can see, I am in control of the situation here at home, even if world leaders have their batibecchi (beak beating=arguments over differences). That birdie drinks out of my birdbath, you’re going to see some fireworks around HERE!
But I’m not sure our president is birds of a feather with anyone…
Hey, when in doubt, kick back and play a little soccer…
Hi doll Loulou! Say, what are false fireworkies? Do they make booming noises & sparkles in the sky like ours do in the U.S.? Oh, I bet I would love France & its wonderful smells & tastes that I’ve only heard about. Mom loved it & would love to live there. Maybe the holiday will spark some good, constructive conversations between our pres-i-dents. I think we cats just need to take over for once & for all! Say, those “courgettes” look like the dove birdies that come to my yard! Nom nom! Tee hee hee!
Oh, Noir Kitty, you are so, so funny. I go to your site and wish to leave a comment but can’t find the comments box! Am I out to lunch or what? Will try again. Thanks for your comments, you beautiful blackie.
Look how close you are to that bird! We can’t believe you didn’t leap at him.
Well, we have sort of become pals…don’t tell anyone.
The orange monkeys is visiting FRANCE?!?!?!?!
I hope your intelligent and well read President treats him as he deserves!
Bon chance mes amis…… and Vive le France!!
Let’s hope some of Macron rubs off and sticks!
Can’t you see the so-called French president is a cheat? Elected by a minority if people.
Acting as if he were a king.
A CHEAT!
Oh, you really are heavy!!! And he is not “so-called”. He IS the president. At least several million people agree on that.
We shall see just what he does for France. I wouldn’t have Marine Le Pen take out my garbage.
Intelligent ? Maybe but wicked and a CHEAT.
What is wicked and a cheat? Sorry, I didn’t understand. But thanks for illuminating.
Oh my. Those poor unsuspecting tourterelles !!! I must warn them of their imminent danger. Duuuh, but how!? Just be glad you’re not here in Nice where there are goelans (BIG seagull-looking birds) that scoop up kitties and doggies. Seriously. Thankfully, rarely.
Well on the 14th – Nice will commemorate the victims of the terrorist attack last year here – where except by the grace of a bad weather forecast, we would have been right there. Mama hesitates to go this year – but our wonderful new president Macron will speak, so they will go. Glad he’s not bringing the Big Orange One with him. Except my westie friend and I (taking your suggestion of meeting at the fire hydrant) were plotting a coup. We’ll just have to find other mischief to get into!! Wish you were here to help – you, Loulou, the Queen of Clever!!!
Oh, Mya, how we miss your wiggles!! And wow, Macron in Nice? Would love to hear him. Maybe I can catch it on our big noisy box thing in the living room. Love to the Westie AND the fire hydrant.
How sweet of you not to eat the birds 🙂
Well, I have a taste for fish and so I leave birdies alone, but, there are not ponds around here! The packaged stuff will have to suffice.
Ah, then your mama and papa are in the perfect place. They appear to be very social, so they must fit right in with the French and Italians. It is fun to stalk the birds, isn’t it!
Oh, Jan, you reallly flatter me by using the word “stalk”, haha. I do stretch out and glare, however, but that silly dove just thumbs its beak at me. We have become fast friends.
If only cats ruled the world …
Especially kitties with wonderful ears!!!!
Oh LouLou – gather up those lemons ! Are those birds ring-necked doves ?
Interested to see the goings-on on Bastille Day.
These are ring-necked somethings or other and they do have a name other than tourterelles but I’ll have to ask our bird expert tomorrow for the name. It’s something like Palmerian or something with ian on the end.
Ring-necked doves are in the American Southwest, so I suppose this is a relative. Around here we have mourning doves and pigeons.
