WHERE IS THAT GUY ANYWAY? I should be able to spot him from here, for sure.
Oh, boy, what a day. Groundhogs going in and out all over the place and in France, the making of crêpes is an activity in every city. Candelmas is Feb 2 and you can read up on it here.
I know we spoke about it last year and probably will every year, if only because mama LOVES crêpes and they really are easy to make. Here the are referred to as pancakes, which mama wasn’t sure about when she first heard pancakes mentioned, expecting a stack of flapjacks. But nope, around here, crêpes are pancakes and that’s that.
Mama’s recipes for crêpes will be on Substack tomorrow and the real magillas will be rolling out of her skillet to celebrate Candelmas and groundhogs, haha. Hey, maybe mama will invite one of those little critters for pancakes. That is, if we can spot him. Uh…her? It? They?
.
Ooh, crepes sound lovely. What does your mom put inside hers? Those are adorable groundhog photos. If the ones that hang around our yard had come out yesterday, they would not have seen their shadows. We really hope we do not have six more weeks of winter. We put cassonade brown sugar inside and Granc Marnier on the outside or mama puts lemon and a little bit of honey or for lunch or dinner, mama cooked a sauce of shrimp and scallops in a white sauce, onion, and sautéed mushrooms with a little of the sauce on the outside.
I don’t take weather advice from a rodent! MOL!
HA HA HA HA Priceless as usual, you smart cookie.
HA HA HA HA That is priceless, you smart cookie.
YUMMY crepes! Especially the dessert kind with ooooey goooooey yummy sweet stuff hiding inside. As for Mr. Groundhog – he says we’re going to have more winter and I think he’s right – we have SNOW in our forecast here for Wednesday!
Hugs, Teddy
Oh, Teddy and mama and papa, keep WARM and cozy inside and purr out the winter in front of the fireplace. And if you try the crepe recipe, pease let mama know how they came out. They are great with lemon and a litte sugar, too.
What a sweet little face that Groundhog has, Loulou. And your mama’s pancakes look delicious.
Well, they were pretty tasty!
I look forward to the recipe. XO
Would love to hear how it goes!
Ooh that crepe does look yummy!
They were awfully tasty, especially with the seafood in them for lunch. I could get into THAT part!
Yummy crepes are good! A groundhog say that Winter will be here a while longer is not so good LOL!
Brian’s Home
OH, DARN. I guess I had better not shed my winter coat…
Crepes sound like a delightful way to celebrate Candlemas. As for the groundhog, in some parts of Europe they look to a hedgehog or badger instead for the predictions.
We’ll take the best of the predictions, haha, badger, hedgehog or other!
Love your crepes, and I know lots of people view the ground hog’s antics with trepidation!
Oui..and now a bit more cold thanks to that little critter!
Granny’s mouthie is watering, and ours too, sweet Angel LouLou
Double Pawkisses for a Happy Sunday to all of you

Those crepes look nommy.
Oh, they are and so easy. Mama made them for lunch and rolled seafood inside but papa’s having one for dessert tonight with Grand Marnier and brown sugar…so decadent my papa.
I had my first ever crepes that were made by a Hungarian friend. I was amazed as I had never seen nor heard of such. They were delicious! It seems she rolled them after they came from the pan, with something delicious inside..a fruit.
Oui, and mama rolls hers with sugar and lemon, or with dark chocolate or something savory. We love our ‘pancakes’….
