School supplies. Are we out of our minds?
So papa was thinking this morning after, having mama read out loud the very perceptive blog from www.it’snoodle!com, that no one in his right mind would even think of giving a car to a child, much less to a person without a license who is required by LAW to learn the rules of the road, the rules of the vehicle, and the rules of etiquette that are required for safety.
So why is it so difficult for our government to make serious laws about having an instrument specifically designed to kill? Papa says that a car is always a possible weapon, too, in the hands of someone who knows nothing about how it works. Why on earth are we one of the only countries without very strict gun laws when we are certainly the only country right now with a record spate of violent shootings in schools, in malls, in churches?
Someone is not minding the store.
The articles about two of the shootings mention that two of the boys with the guns came from single-mother homes, to which mama responded that it can’t just be single mothers, oh, no, but it turns out that both mothers were gun freaks!
We ask why our kids are not educated about so many things. We ought to be asking why a parent or parents are not more aware of the dangers of firearms in a family and why there are many parents in our country who feel that the right to bear arms does not mean using them on others.
I want these shootings to STOP. Has anyone ever read the constitution except Noodle?

Wise thoughts Loulou. People only buy guns to shoot other people/animals, whether in self defence or attack. The only reason to have guns is to harm and kill

Mama has to confess that shooting at balloons at a fair was really fun because she could (MAYBE) win things for her grandkids, but she has stopped doing it. Guns are to kill. Even bubble guns are not allowed in this house.
