Oh, I forgot to put Poetry and Literature on the list.
Well, mama and I am pretty fed up with seeing and hearing bad news all the time and so mama has suggested to me that I try to find nice things to write about (as a kid, she remembers her mama saying, “Don’t say anything if you can’t say something nice”, just when she was getting ready to complain; so it goes with mamas). There was no whinging allowed it THAT family! And why is whinging spelled with a ‘g’? Hmmm….
And of course mama wanted to say things all the time, as in ask her mama questions, and so often drove her mama crazy! Ah, well, better questions than no questions, right?
So I think these things are good to write about:
Food (real food, not hang-ups about food)
Love
Friendship
Discoveries in science, education, architecture, art, music and so on
Gardens
Did I mention food?
Astronomy
Animals
Family (when positive; whoa, that’s a challenge, haha)
Vacation places that don’t cost much
Food
Cities I love (for me, Rome, here, NYC, and lots of others I’ve not been to)
Food (as you can see, that’s primarily what’s on my mind)
Well, those are just a few subjects but I’ll bet you readers out there have many more suggestions. I’m pretty good a research so if you have questions with no answers yet, shoot them to me and I’ll put my little churning brain to work on it.
For example: did you know that olive oil or any kitchen oil will help take the price labels off of new items you buy? Mama used to grit her teeth while making an attempt to remove labels that don’t soak off in water. Try oil and a kitchen knife to scrape with. Won’t hurt the item (unless it’s metal) and labels slide off easily.
Or did you know that there are about 20 easy pasta sauces that can be made before the water boils for your noodles? More on that for sure.
Or try this out: Leave cottage cheese out of the fridge for 24 hours to give it a lovely, slightly yogurt-y sourness that enhances its bland flavour.
So you see, I’m on a new tack because I’m sort of overdosed on police mistakes, abuse to kids and animals and women and anyone, and just about all of the things you see in headlines.
Bear with me and you’ll be rewarded with vast quantities of deep knowledge from this kitty, HAHA.
Hey, I think I can bear it, Loulou, haha
We like to talk about food too. And those are some good tips!
Well, this kitty is open to requests, too, for anything you might have wanted to know but were afraid to ask, haha. I have more tips and will put them out there from time to time. Mama has taught me LOTS of tricks in the kitchen.
Hmmmm, we’ll have to tell Jan about that oil and label thing. She gets frustrated.
Jan is not alone. Mama tears her hair when the labels take all day to remove. But she doesn’t really buy much so there are fewer labels now, but when they were moving house, she had to get a few things and boy, it was hellish. Oil also takes sticky stuff off fingers and such.
