Well, I’m just resting up before the slaying of the dragon by our patron saint of Collioure.
Well, today is the celebration of St. Jordi (St. George to most), who slayed the dragon and saved the life of the King’s daughter and so he did, right on our little beach and mama cried! Have you ever heard of such a thing? I mean it was just some guys dressed up in a red dragon suit and even if they did move pretty well, they didn’t get stuck with the lance, not one of them!!! Still, mama finds it hard to think of anything keeling over–birds, animals, anthros. And life seems to be so full of bad news and unhappy news and outrageous news that we are just looking for anything that is positive and uplifting every day.
The dragon was GREAT:
The procession meandered through the town and ended up on the beach where the dragon was slain and the daughter saved. But I think the dragon was eyeing the waiter’s glasses of vino…
St. Jordi, to the rescue!
Yes, that’s the dragon, taking a siesta…er…slain.
This whole ordeal tuckered me OUT! Whew. All over for another year!
Suzanne, Love the dragons! What a great traditions.
Just got home from Paris. Had a marvelous time with my daughter ad granddaughter. Thanks for your tips
Oh, Peg, we want to hear ALL about it. Happy homecoming.
I love the dragon, I am so impressed with it!
I love Erupean traditions, we just don’t get them here in NZ.
Oh, but mama has a good friend from NZ and boy, can she cook! Lives in Honolulu, Mary Rounds.
Dragons & slaying – OH MY! That tucker’s me out, too, Loulou, just thinking about it! You are smart to get a good rest! I hope your dreams of of good dragons!
Well, I dream of kibble but there were a couple of images of something scaly I couldn’t place…
EEK – maybe the dragon’s just taking a nap. After, all, he comes back every year to take part in this, so gotta be fun for him – well, maybe he’s really into S&M!!! Don’t let MY momma get near that fight or she would be cheering for the dragon (like she cheers for the bull at bullfights, since, what a stupid mean, egotistical “sport”?). But, before I protest REALLY loudly, just how tasty is dragon-kibble, Loulou?
DRAGON KIBBLE??? They had better not feed ME any of that stuff. I’ll be singeing mama’s eyebrows in the morning instead of giving kisses.
That is so interesting. I have never heard of this celebration.
Every little town in France has a patron saint and ours is St. George…
You do have some interesting things going on around there from time to time. Must be an interesting place to live.
There is NEVER a dull moment. The French really know how to celebrate so many things and there are holidays for each celebration and a festival of some kind. Great fun.
LouLou, your Mama may be sentimental about dragons because of that song by Peter, Paul, and Mary. Or she may have had a few suggestions about who the Dragon ought to be menacing instead of the Princess.
Oh, do we want to age my mama like that, haha. Peter, Paul and WHO??? Just kidding. Yes, she thinks the dragon should have visited the White House….
